First confirm which GPU Diablo IV is using, then compare that exact model with Blizzard’s published minimum examples. If your PC has a dedicated GPU that meets the listed level, check Windows’ GPU assignment, game-specific graphics settings and drivers before considering an upgrade.
What the warning tells you—and what it doesn’t
Blizzard’s Diablo IV minimum-requirements wording, reproduced in a Blizzard-hosted technical-support forum post, says the game “will attempt to run on hardware below minimum specifications, including HDDs, dual-core CPUs, and Integrated GPUs. However, the game experience may be significantly diminished.” Attempting to run is not a guarantee that a particular below-minimum PC will work.
The same forum reproduction lists NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660, AMD Radeon R9 280 and Intel Arc A380 as minimum graphics examples, alongside DirectX 12. This is a 2023 reference, not a confirmation of Blizzard’s current requirements. Check Blizzard’s current requirements before making a hardware decision; product names or integrated-graphics branding alone do not establish equivalent performance. Blizzard-hosted forum reproduction of the requirements.
Blizzard patch notes document historical fixes for broken text in the “GPU not Supported” message and for an issue that prevented players with certain dedicated graphics cards in laptops from playing. Those notes show that warning text and laptop-GPU issues have existed; they do not establish that either historical issue explains a current error. Diablo IV patch notes.

1. Identify the GPU Diablo IV is using
On Windows, open Device Manager and expand Display adapters to see the graphics hardware installed. You can also check the system’s graphics information. If more than one adapter appears, note which is integrated and which is dedicated; a laptop may have both.
The key distinction is between the GPU installed in the PC and the GPU assigned to the game. A system can have a dedicated graphics card yet launch a game on integrated graphics. Conversely, if the only available GPU is below the applicable minimum, selecting a different Windows setting cannot make it meet that hardware level.
2. Compare your GPU with the minimum examples
Use the exact model you identified—not just the brand or product family—and compare it with Blizzard’s current requirements. The 2023 forum reproduction names a GTX 660, Radeon R9 280 or Intel Arc A380 as minimum examples, with DirectX 12. Do not treat an integrated GPU as equivalent just because it shares a manufacturer or branding with a dedicated card.

- If your GPU is below the current minimum: driver updates or adapter-selection changes cannot turn it into a qualifying GPU. The requirements say the game may attempt to run below minimum, but warn that the experience may be significantly diminished.
- If your PC has a dedicated GPU that meets the current minimum: check that Diablo IV is assigned to it, then inspect game-specific GPU settings and drivers.
- If the model or current requirement is unclear: verify it with Blizzard’s current requirements and the GPU maker’s product information rather than guessing from a similar name.
3. Assign Diablo IV to the high-performance GPU in Windows 11
A Blizzard-hosted forum reply suggests choosing the dedicated, high-performance GPU for Diablo IV through Windows 11 Graphics settings. The path and available labels can vary with Windows versions and hardware.
Recommended Free Tools
- Open Settings → System → Display → Graphics.
- Find Diablo IV in the app list. If it is not listed, add Diablo IV.exe using the available browse option.
- Open the game’s graphics options and select the High performance GPU option, if offered. On systems with NVIDIA graphics, the forum reply describes selecting the NVIDIA high-performance GPU.
- Save the setting, then launch the game again and check whether the warning remains.
This is a troubleshooting suggestion from a forum reply, not a guaranteed fix or a universal path for every Windows version or GPU vendor. Do not disable a laptop’s integrated GPU as a routine workaround; the forum reply notes it may be needed for power management. Blizzard-hosted GPU troubleshooting discussion.
4. Check game-specific GPU settings and drivers
If the game is assigned to the right adapter but the warning persists, check whether the GPU control panel has a Diablo IV profile that overrides default settings. The cited forum reply suggests resetting NVIDIA profile overrides and trying a clean driver installation. It does not establish a current driver version or a procedure that applies to every manufacturer.

- Use the GPU maker’s official driver source to check for an appropriate driver.
- If you reinstall the driver, follow the manufacturer’s current instructions for your GPU and Windows version.
- After changing a profile or driver, restart the game and see whether the message changes.
Driver and profile changes are troubleshooting steps, not a substitute for meeting the game’s hardware requirements.

The same historical forum reply points to an Adapter entry in DocumentsDiablo IVLocalPrefs. If you choose to inspect or edit this file, make a backup first. The correct adapter value depends on the individual PC; the forum discussion does not establish one number that is right for everyone, and the workaround has not been independently verified here.

6. Know when to stop troubleshooting
- If the confirmed GPU is below Blizzard’s current minimum, focus on the published requirements rather than repeatedly changing driver or adapter settings.
- If the GPU should meet the requirements and the warning remains after checking adapter selection and the official driver, contact Blizzard Support for Diablo IV.
- For a laptop, do not disable integrated graphics just to suppress the warning; it may be involved in power management.
Consider buying hardware only after confirming the current GPU is below the current requirement. The minimum examples above do not identify the best-value upgrade or show whether a particular card will fit a particular PC. Before purchasing a desktop graphics card, check power supply capacity, case clearance, slot/interface compatibility and the manufacturer’s requirements; laptop graphics are constrained by the laptop design.
