Croc: Legend of the Gobbos’ remaster is no longer a future release: Argonaut Games launched it on October 17, 2025. The updated version of the 1997 3D platformer is available on PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox, with enhanced visuals, modern controls, an updated camera, retro display modes, and an archive of development material.
Is the Croc remaster out yet?
Yes. Argonaut Games announced its return and the remaster on August 28, 2024, and the game was released on October 17, 2025. The announcement-era wording that Croc was “finally getting” a remaster now describes a completed release, not an upcoming game. Argonaut’s press archive records the announcement; Steam’s listing gives the release date.

What platforms can you play it on?
Argonaut lists Steam, GOG, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox as platform families for the remaster. The exact store listing and availability may depend on platform and region, so check the relevant store before buying. Argonaut’s Croc page and its FAQ provide platform information.
A GOG announcement from October 24, 2024 called its Windows version exclusive and said GOG purchasers would also receive the classic game. That was announcement-era information: Argonaut’s current platform coverage includes Steam as well as GOG, so the old exclusivity claim should not be treated as current.

What’s new in the remaster?
Updated presentation and play
The remaster keeps the original 3D platforming premise while adding enhanced HD graphics, modern control mechanics, an updated camera, and retro video modes. Argonaut describes the game as containing 45 levels across five worlds. These are the developer’s stated features and level count. Argonaut’s official game page has the feature details.
Crocipedia’s development archive
Crocipedia is an in-game collection of material from the game’s development, including concept and level designs, animation tests, design documents, pre-release music, and interviews. It gives players a look at the work behind the 1997 release as well as the platforming game itself.

What does the Platinum Edition add, and is it free?
Argonaut describes the Platinum Edition as a free update for owners of the remaster. It adds Time Attack, more than 25 Crocipedia additions, selectable Croc theme mixes, bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements. For existing owners on most listed platforms, the update is delivered automatically. PlayStation owners must download the separate Platinum Edition version from the PlayStation Store, according to Argonaut’s FAQ. Check the store version carefully if you already own the PlayStation release. See Argonaut’s update instructions.
Can you buy a physical copy?
Argonaut lists physical Platinum Editions for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch and links to Amazon US listings. Inventory, preorder status, price, and delivery timing can change; confirm that a listing is live and matches your console and edition before ordering. The cited listings establish these editions, not their current stock or fulfillment status. Argonaut’s Croc page links to the physical listings.

What to know before buying on PC
Steam identifies Titanium Studios and Big Boat Interactive as developers and Argonaut Games as publisher, and lists the game as single-player. Its Windows requirements include Windows 10 and 35 GB of available storage. These are Steam’s platform-specific specifications; consult the live Steam product page for current requirements before installing.
Argonaut and Steam describe the original as a “multi-million-selling” game, but neither gives a precise sales total and year. A more exact figure cannot be established from those sources.

Don’t confuse the remaster with Croc 2
The first game’s remaster is already available. Argonaut has separately announced Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos, a sequel project that it says will launch digitally on October 29, 2026. That date refers to the sequel, not the remaster. Argonaut’s press archive has the announcement.
