Destiny: Rising is a free-to-play mobile RPG shooter developed and published by NetEase Games under license from Bungie. It tells a new story in an alternate Destiny timeline before the events of the original Destiny; it is not a mobile port of Destiny 2. The game launched worldwide for iOS and Android on August 28, 2025, and the official site currently lists it as available.
What kind of game is Destiny: Rising?
NetEase describes Destiny: Rising as a mobile sci-fi RPG shooter. “FPS” appears in its official marketing, but players can switch between first-person and third-person views, so it is not limited to a first-person perspective. NetEase develops and publishes the game under license from Bungie.
The game is designed for mobile rather than being a direct port of Destiny 2. NetEase announced a worldwide release for iOS and Android on August 28, 2025. The official website lists App Store and Google Play downloads and also refers to playing through a PC emulator. The available official information does not establish a native PC, console, or Steam release.
Where does its story fit in the Destiny universe?
Destiny: Rising takes place in an alternate timeline before the events of the original Destiny. Its story follows a new generation of Lightbearers in a world rebuilding after the collapse of civilization. It is a different take on the Destiny universe, not a retelling of the main games’ timeline.

NetEase’s launch description names Haven, Jiangshi, and the Red Sea Rift among the locations. Players take the role of the Wolf, a customizable character, and encounter familiar figures including Ikora Rey and Iron Lord Jolder.
What can you play, and how do you control it?
NetEase lists campaign missions, open-world objectives, strikes and other six-player PvE activities, PvP battles, and clan features. The publisher describes solo, cooperative, and competitive play, with abilities tied to individual characters. These are official feature descriptions, not independent assessments of how the modes perform or are balanced.

Players can use touchscreen controls or a compatible controller, according to NetEase’s launch announcement. The reviewed official material does not identify a recommended controller model, so check that a controller works with both your phone and the game before buying one.
What performance can you expect on a phone?
NetEase says some newer mobile devices support 60 frames per second, with 90 frames per second available on select devices. Those figures are device-specific claims from the publisher’s launch release, not a guarantee for every iPhone or Android phone. The reviewed official sources do not provide independent device tests or a complete compatibility list, so confirm support for your particular device before relying on a target frame rate.

Is Destiny: Rising still available?
Yes. NetEase announced the worldwide iOS and Android launch for August 28, 2025, and the official site currently shows the game as available. The site displayed a weekly patch note dated October 7, 2026, indicating official updates at that time; that listing alone does not establish uninterrupted server availability.
NetEase’s July 2025 launch-date announcement also reported five million pre-orders and said players would receive ten free draws at launch. That was a pre-launch milestone and launch reward announcement, not a current player count or a statement of present rewards.
