How to access Spire of the Watcher
Bungie classifies dungeons as endgame PvE activities for fireteams of up to three players. They involve complex mechanics, and solo completion is an optional challenge rather than a requirement. See Bungie’s activities overview.

Spire is among the dungeons Bungie lists for Dungeon Key access. Bungie’s June 2026 support guide says Dungeon Keys are included in Destiny 2: The Collection or can be acquired in Eververse. Entitlements and menus can vary by account and storefront, so verify access in your account and the in-game Director rather than relying on older quest or vendor instructions. How the dungeon route works
The encounter sequence is: restore power and open the outpost, traverse the bunker, climb the Spire through yellow circuits, defeat Akelous, descend through timed red circuits, then defeat Persys. The detailed route and mechanics below are gameplay-guide instructions, not official Bungie text; consult the Vaexil.tv Spire of the Watcher guide for its room maps, exact cable paths, recording locations, and encounter-specific assignments.

Restore power and open the outpost
Clear enemies and trace the four persistent yellow circuits to their endpoints. Activating them opens the outpost hatch. Because progress persists, take time to follow each cable rather than guessing at a node.
Cross the bunker and approach the Spire
Move through the bunker and suspended catwalk area toward the Spire. The Vaexil.tv route maps the first hidden chest and Devilish Recordings 1–5 along this approach. Use its location details if you are collecting them; the recordings are optional and do not replace encounter progression.
Ascend the Spire
The climb has three levels. Each level uses two yellow circuits; completing both activates the lift. Progress on a circuit persists, and layouts change between levels, so trace the cable to its endpoint and confirm it is complete before moving on.

Defeat Akelous, the Siren’s Current
The guide describes the damage sequence as lighting four fuel rods, shooting the boss’s twelve eyes, then damaging its retreating core. Get clear when the sequence ends to avoid the blast. These steps are guide-reported encounter instructions; use the linked route guide for detailed positions and team assignments.
Descend through the red circuits
The descent uses three timed red circuits, each with five nodes that can be activated in any order. The route also passes the second hidden chest. Follow the standard dungeon’s current red-node mechanic; do not substitute altered Rite of the Nine instructions for this activity.
Defeat Persys, Primordial Ruin
The final encounter combines yellow-circuit tracing with a reactor and control-room sequence while Persys remains active. The room’s cable routing and encounter positions are specific, so use the linked gameplay guide for precise assignments and recovery steps rather than relying on a generic circuit pattern.

How to coordinate a fireteam
Three players can divide circuit coverage while the remaining attention goes to enemy control, but these are tactical suggestions, not required roles. Confirm the actual room layout in the activity before splitting up: the circuit arrangement changes during the climb and the final encounter has distinct areas. A solo player can complete dungeons as an optional challenge, but Bungie describes them as activities designed for fireteams of up to three.

Bungie’s June 9, 2026 Update 9.7.0 sets tiered weapon and armor rewards according to whether a dungeon is featured that week and whether the run is Standard or Master. Two dungeons are featured weekly. Check the Director activity card for Spire’s current status and reward eligibility.

These are Bungie’s reward-tier rules, not guarantees for a particular item or perk roll. Update 9.7.0 says pre–Edge of Fate dungeons received tiered rewards, including updated dungeon weapon origin traits and armor set bonuses. The cited rules do not establish a specific item’s drop rate or whether a particular encounter is currently farmable, so check live activity details and current item information before planning a targeted farm. How to find the hidden chests and recordings
The standard route described by Vaexil.tv includes two hidden chests and six Devilish Recordings. The first chest and recordings 1–5 are mapped along the bunker and catwalk approach; the second chest is on the descent after Akelous. The Vaexil.tv guide does not establish exact cache coordinates or the sixth recording’s location, so use the linked route guide’s map and directions rather than guessing. These collectibles are optional to the encounter sequence.
What may change in older guides
As of October 8, 2026, Bungie’s June 9, 2026 Update 9.7.0 is described as the final major content patch, with maintenance patches still possible. Older guides may therefore differ from current reward tiers or activity eligibility. The live Director card is the best check for weekly rotation, modifiers, and rewards; maintenance can still affect details after the cited update.
