DELTARUNE Chapters 3 and 4 launched on June 5, 2025, alongside Nintendo Switch 2. The paid release included Chapters 1–4, not just the two new chapters. The date can appear as June 4 for some players: Toby Fox set the Switch 2 launch for midnight local time in each region, while the coordinated release on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 was June 5 at midnight Japan time.
When did DELTARUNE Chapters 3 and 4 release?
The release was June 5, 2025, the same day Nintendo Switch 2 launched. Nintendo confirmed the console’s release date in its April 2, 2025 announcement.

For the Switch 2 version of DELTARUNE, creator Toby Fox announced a midnight launch on June 5 in each region. For Steam, the original Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5, the announced synchronized time was June 5 at 00:00 Japan time. That translated to June 4 at 8 a.m. PDT, 11 a.m. EDT, and 5 p.m. CET. So June 4 and June 5 are both accurate dates depending on the platform and time zone, rather than a conflicting release schedule. Fox’s release-time notice gives the platform-specific timing.
What was included in the launch release?
The launch purchase included DELTARUNE Chapters 1–4. Nintendo described the game as a 2D story-based RPG and a parallel story to UNDERTALE, featuring battles, puzzles, and choices about whether to resolve conflicts peacefully. Nintendo’s U.S. announcement page said additional chapters were planned as free updates.

Which platforms could play it?
DELTARUNE was not a Switch 2 exclusive. Nintendo listed versions for both Switch 2 and the original Switch, and Fox’s launch notice also named Steam, PS4, and PS5. Buying Nintendo’s new console was therefore not required to play Chapters 1–4.
For buyers considering the Nintendo editions, Fox’s launch notice said a Switch or Switch 2 purchase would work through cross-buy at no additional cost in either direction, with a small-fee exception in Japan. That describes the terms announced at launch; check the relevant regional store for current purchase terms.

What did Nintendo’s regional listings say?
Store details varied by region. Nintendo’s U.S. announcement page displayed a regular price of $24.99 for both the Switch and Switch 2 editions; that is the price shown on that page, not a universal or guaranteed current price. Nintendo Canada’s Switch 2 digital listing gave a June 5, 2025 release date, a 978 MB file size, Japanese and American English support, and listed 8-4 as publisher and developer.

Nintendo of America announced a free Chapter 5 update for Switch 2 and Switch, scheduled for June 24, 2026, in a June 9, 2026 Nintendo Direct video. That announced date has passed. The announcement establishes the planned update date, but does not by itself confirm the current game version or any later patches.
