Death’s Abyss is a six-player co-op dungeon in Throne and Liberty. The route runs from the Shadowmancer through the Corridor of Barriers and Riot Squad Captain to Karnix. The key wipe-prevention checks are interrupting the Shadowmancer’s lift, stopping the Captain’s red-shield area attack, and responding together to Karnix’s marked attacks.
Before you enter
The official dungeon overview describes co-op dungeons as six-player activities and says solo queue matchmaking is available. It also recommends improving gear and skills before challenging dungeons. That guidance is general; it does not establish Death’s Abyss-specific entry requirements.

A third-party listing dated December 10, 2024 gives level 50 and 1,600 combat power as requirements and classifies Death’s Abyss as a 1-Star Dimensional Circle dungeon. Treat those numbers as historical listing details, not a guarantee of the current requirement; check the live dungeon screen before queuing. Do not confuse Death’s Abyss with Syleus’s Abyss, the separate open-world dungeon.
Route through Death’s Abyss
- Take the leftmost route. Avoid optional fights when practical. An Enchanted Arkeum Arbiter patrols the center; wait for it to move away, then deal with the guards on the stairs. In the next hallway section, prioritize the Healer so it cannot extend the fight. Clear the remaining enemies to open the gate.
- Use the left path in the second room. Move toward the Elite Arkeum Shadowmancer and be ready to interrupt its lift attack.
- Return to the hallway and activate both levers. The party can split to operate them or activate them in sequence while others manage enemies. A guide mentions Dagger’s Camouflage Cloak as one way to reach a lever, but no particular class or skill is required by the route.
- Defeat the Elite Arkeum Riot Squad Captain. Its defeat opens the final gate. Continue attacking during its blue barrier phase; when the barrier turns red, use crowd control to stop its dangerous area attack.
- Defeat Karnix. Use the positioning and mechanic responses below, then leave through the magic circle after the boss is down. The listed objective sequence is Shadowmancer, Corridor of Barriers, Captain, Karnix, exit.
Shadowmancer: interrupt the lift
The Shadowmancer’s dangerous cast traps and lifts three players. Assign someone to watch for the cast and interrupt it with hard crowd control, such as a stun, before it completes. If the group lets it resolve, several players can lose control at once, making the encounter harder to recover.

Riot Squad Captain: react to the shield color
During the Captain’s blue barrier phase, keep attacking. When the barrier changes to red, use crowd control to interrupt the area attack rather than treating the red shield as another damage window. This is the encounter’s main group check before the final gate opens.
Karnix: handle each marked attack together
Teleports and targeted attacks
Guides describe Karnix teleporting toward the farthest player and following with a blockable attack; one describes two teleports before the blockable hit, while another describes a set of three teleport-wave attacks. Watch the boss and the in-game cues rather than relying on a fixed count: a player away from the group can draw targeted attacks outwards, and allies should avoid standing in their path. Block the indicated attack when its cue appears.
Scythes that mark three players
When Karnix marks three players and sends scythes after them, those players should move around the arena’s outer edge. Avoid cutting through the middle or crossing the group, where the pursuing attacks can create danger for everyone. One guide suggests morphing to evade hits; the core tactic is to keep moving without dragging the scythes across allies.
Marked circle
Sources use different color names for this marker, so identify the circle from its live in-game appearance rather than expecting one universal color label. The guides agree on the response: gather inside the marked circle to block the attack. A staff user with Salvation Chain can alternatively pull the marked player toward the group, but that depends on the party having the skill and using it correctly; gathering is the straightforward default.

Other blockable attacks
Guides describe a rising spin before a blockable attack, as well as a scythe slam and shockwave. Watch for the Fury or block cue and use your defensive response. Exact animation timing may vary with game updates, so react to the live cue rather than treating a guide’s timing as fixed.

The simplest route strategy is to avoid unnecessary fights while clearing the enemies that block gates and objectives. Taking a more thorough clear can mean fighting extra enemies; it is not required by the listed objective sequence. Choose based on whether your party prefers a quicker route or the added safety of clearing nearby threats.
For Karnix’s marked-circle attack, gathering inside makes the response visible and does not depend on a particular weapon skill. Salvation Chain is an alternative only when a staff user has it available and the group can coordinate around the pull. Neither approach is established as universally better.
A third-party guide suggests combinations such as Greatsword with Sword and Shield, Longbow with Crossbow, Dagger with Crossbow, and Wand with Staff for tanking, damage, or support. These are that guide author’s suggestions, not a required lineup or a performance-tested ranking. Prioritize having crowd control for the first two encounters and a party able to respond to Karnix’s markers.
