What the developers said about Malevola
In a Destructoid interview published November 12, 2025, Shorette stated: “Malevola is not a romanceable character in season one.” He said the studio had “definitely heard it loud and clear” about community interest, and would listen to feedback as it considered what might influence a second season. Those comments acknowledge demand; they do not promise a sequel or a Malevola romance.
Shorette also described how Malevola grew in prominence during development. She was not originally part of the core cast, but actor Alanah Pearce’s performance helped the team give the character more room, including small interactions some players read as romantic. Those moments do not change the explicit answer about a season-one romance route.

Which romance options are reported for season one?
A separate Destructoid interview identifies Blonde Blazer and Invisigal as romance interests. Shorette remarked, “We somehow managed to make enough likable characters that folks wish that the romance options were wider.” The interviews do not identify Sonar or Waterboy as confirmed romance options, so it would be misleading to treat fan enthusiasm or individual interactions as proof that either has a route.

More routes remain a possibility only in the broad sense that the developers have heard requests and said they would consider community feedback. A 2026 Popverse interview discusses the game’s reception and the possibility of a second season, but does not turn that possibility into a confirmed season or specific romance plans (Popverse, September 22, 2026).
The developers have also pointed to the cost of extensive branching: every romance choice can add narrative and production work. Shorette floated the idea of a separate, non-canon dating-sim-style project, but only as an idea, not a commitment. Neither comment confirms additional routes in Dispatch.
