Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 has already launched. Aniplex reported the Japanese release on August 1, 2025; SEGA announced an August 5 release for North America and Europe, with the Steam version dated August 6 in SEGA Asia’s platform notice.
When did The Hinokami Chronicles 2 come out?
The original 2025 headline is now historical. SEGA announced the game in December 2024 as a 2025 release for North America and Europe. Subsequent announcements specified the dates by region and platform:

SEGA’s platform announcement lists PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. The Steam version is dated August 6 in the SEGA Asia notice; SEGA’s North American and European announcement gives August 5 for the listed release there.

SEGA described Story Mode as continuing Tanjiro Kamado’s journey through three arcs: Entertainment District, Swordsmith Village, and Hashira Training. That is the announced story scope, not an independent assessment of the game’s content.

SEGA also said characters from the first game would return, including demons introduced through free post-launch updates and Entertainment District characters that had been paid DLC in the first game. The official materials identify the title as an Aniplex game, with CyberConnect2 as developer.
