Beating the game does unlock a harder difficulty for a later run, and some specific bonus consumables may be available when starting a new game—but neither is full campaign carry-over.
What carries over when you start a new game?
Capcom’s materials do not describe a general transfer of inventory, upgrades, or story progress into a replay. They do note that certain pre-order Survival Pack consumables are available again each time a player starts a new game. That is a limited bonus, not evidence that your previous campaign’s equipment carries over. Capcom’s announcement describes that pre-order offer.

What does completing Resident Evil 7 unlock?
Madhouse difficulty
Completing the game once normally unlocks Madhouse, its very difficult setting, for a subsequent playthrough, according to Capcom. This lets you replay with a tougher challenge; it does not turn that run into New Game Plus. Capcom also described a historical pre-order option that granted early access to Madhouse, but that offer is not a current purchase recommendation.
Are Not a Hero and End of Zoe New Game Plus?
No. Capcom identifies Not a Hero as a free additional story episode for owners of Resident Evil 7, and End of Zoe as additional story content set after the main game’s events and Not a Hero. They are separate episodes, not a mode that carries your main-campaign progress into a replay. Capcom’s additional-content announcement describes them.

- Want a harder replay? Complete the campaign once to unlock Madhouse normally.
- Want your old inventory and upgrades? The available Capcom material does not establish general carry-over, so do not expect a conventional NG+ save.
- Want more story? Play Not a Hero or End of Zoe; these are additional episodes rather than NG+.
