Eligible creators can exchange qualifying Earned Robux for real-world money through the Developer Exchange (DevEx) program. Whether Robux qualify depends on how they were earned—not simply on the balance shown in an account.
Can you cash out Robux you bought?
No. Roblox lists directly purchased Robux and gift-card redemptions among the balances that do not count as Earned Robux. Premium monthly grants, trading or reselling items, and earnings tied to moderated violative content also do not qualify. DevEx is a creator payout program, not a way to convert any Robux balance into cash.
What counts as Earned Robux?
Roblox describes Earned Robux as Robux generated by a creator’s compliant sale or monetization of content made on the platform. Examples include:
- In-game items and purchases, such as eligible developer products and passes.
- Marketplace or Creator Store listings.
- Creator Rewards, Publisher program ad revenue, and affiliate sales fees.
- Group funds, but only when they come from bona fide, compliant earnings.
Roblox decides whether earnings meet its rules. Its DevEx Terms state, “The determination of whether Robux are Earned Robux resides solely in Roblox’s discretion.” A balance estimate therefore does not establish that the Robux can be cashed out.

How much money is Earned Robux worth?
Roblox’s official DevEx documentation lists a standard current rate of $0.0038 per eligible Earned Robux, checked October 8, 2026. At that rate, 30,000 Earned Robux equals $114. Rates and program requirements can change, and the applicable rate depends on when and how the Robux were earned.
| Earnings category | Rate Roblox lists | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Standard current Earned Robux | $0.0038 per Robux | For eligible earnings at the current standard rate; Roblox’s documentation checked October 8, 2026. |
| Earned before September 5, 2025, at 10 a.m. Pacific | $0.0035 per Robux | The legacy-rate balance is cashed out before current-rate earnings. Roblox lists $105 for 30,000 at this rate. |
| Certain purchases by eligible U.S. players verified as 18 or older | $0.0054 per Robux | A conditional rate for qualifying purchases in eligible games, including developer products, passes, subscriptions, and private servers—not a general rate for all Robux. |
The higher U.S. 18+ rate depends on purchaser eligibility, location, purchase type, and game eligibility. Do not assume it applies to every sale or to an entire account balance.

What do you need to use DevEx?
Roblox lists these basic requirements for a cash-out request:
- At least 30,000 Earned Robux.
- Age 13 or older.
- A verified email address and a valid DevEx Portal account.
- A W-9 for U.S. taxpayers or a W-8 for non-U.S. taxpayers.
- Continued compliance with Roblox’s terms and DevEx requirements.
Meeting the minimums does not guarantee approval. Roblox reviews requests and determines which earnings qualify. The dashboard amount is an estimate, and Roblox warns it may not reflect the final eligible balance or payout rate.

How to request a DevEx cash-out
- In Creator Hub, open Finances and select Cash Out.
- Submit a request once the account meets the eligibility requirements. Roblox reviews the request and the source and compliance of the earnings.
- If a first-time request is approved, complete the DevEx Portal invitation and register payment and tax details. The invitation must be completed within one week.
- Wait for processing and payment. Roblox gives approximate estimates of about 10 business days for first-time users and five business days for returning users; weekends and holidays are excluded, and bank processing can take additional time.
Roblox says cash-outs are limited to one per calendar month. If a request is rejected, its help documentation says the held Robux are returned. A dashboard estimate can also lag earnings transfers or sales; Roblox’s official pages describe a delay but do not establish one universal timeframe.

Roblox requires the applicable tax form—W-9 for U.S. taxpayers or W-8 for non-U.S. taxpayers—as part of the DevEx process. Those forms do not determine how a particular creator should report income or what tax they owe. For advice specific to your country and circumstances, consult a qualified tax professional or your tax authority.
