What is known about the ending-cutscene crash
Historical player reports describe the game reaching a repeatable point in the final sequence and then crashing. Some players said reloading their save replayed the sequence and caused another crash. Reports mention PlayStation 5 and Xbox, with a separate PC report, but community posts do not establish the cause, how widespread the problem was, or whether it still occurs today. Techland’s current support index includes general crash guidance and a separate cutscene soft-lock issue for the Satellite Dream quest. It does not list this ending-cutscene crash as a current hot issue; that omission does not prove the problem is resolved. Techland’s update listing shows ongoing updates, including Update 1.29 and Hotfix 1.28.1 in 2026, but does not say that either update fixed this particular crash.
Start with checks that apply to any platform
- Confirm that Dying Light 2 is fully updated, and note the game version or build shown on your platform.
- Write down which quest or ending sequence is affected, whether the crash happens at the same point each time, and whether restarting the game changes the result.
- Do not assume a workaround for a different cutscene applies here. Techland’s temporary recommendation to set video quality to Medium is for the Satellite Dream quest’s soft-lock, not an established fix for the ending crash. Techland’s Satellite Dream guidance.
Console troubleshooting
Techland’s platform articles provide general crash advice, not a confirmed solution for this specific ending sequence. The articles say their described procedures preserve saves or progress.

Follow the console-specific instructions in Techland’s support article, and confirm the game has downloaded its updates before trying the ending sequence again. These steps may help with general crashes, but Techland does not promise they will resolve this cutscene-specific problem.

- Your platform and game version; for PC, include the game Build ID.
- The affected quest or ending sequence and the save’s update history, including which updates were installed while using that save.
- Your video settings, how often the crash occurs, and the steps that reproduce it, including whether restarting the game or system changes anything.
- For PC, attach a DirectX Diagnostic file, crash logs, and any available dump files.
Use Techland’s support instructions for how to submit the report and diagnostic files. Avoid deleting the affected save while troubleshooting unless Techland Support specifically advises it.
