Mission route at a glance
- Investigate the Monument after Power Gambit.
- Secure the nearby suburban Safe Zone at the apartment hideout.
- Enter the E&F Plant and speak with the scientist.
- Find the gas canister in the plant basement and carry it to the junkyard.
- Use the lure, clear the Baron’s soldiers, and defeat the Behemoth.
- Collect the blood sample and return it to Olivia at the Monastery.
Investigate the Monument
Travel to the Monument after completing Power Gambit. Expect a dense infected encounter. Prioritize the Spitters, including those on the truck and monument, to cut down ranged attacks. Molotovs and red gas canisters can help thin the crowd. Armored militia-type infected are vulnerable from behind, so circle around them instead of trading blows with their protected fronts.
When the area is clear, inspect the device outside the truck, then open the truck’s sliding door and check the loot area; the walkthrough says an empty gas canister is there. An optional nighttime approach is described as offering bonus XP, but it also makes the encounter more dangerous.
Secure the suburban Safe Zone
Olivia redirects you to an apartment hideout nearby. Find the exterior marked by a tapestry and use a van to reach the open window. Clear the interior, then follow the blue cable to the locked basement door. Enter the basement through the adjacent vent, clear the infected, and restore power. Go back upstairs and activate the switch to claim the Safe Zone.

Get inside the E&F Plant
The main gate is guarded by Baron’s riflemen. Rather than pushing through that entrance, the walkthrough recommends following the plant’s left perimeter, climbing the stacked trailers, and entering through a broken white pipe. Drop into the yard, trigger the scene, and clear the remaining soldiers.
Go through the double doors to meet the scientist. They explain that a Chimera infected fled toward the junkyard and that you need a gas canister to lure it.
Find the canister and carry it to the junkyard
Reach the plant basement through the marked exits and vents, clear the infected, and use Survivor Sense to locate the canister. Carry it toward the junkyard. Runners patrol the route, so avoid creating noise that draws more enemies or eliminate the Runners quickly.
The canister can explode if it takes too much damage. If transporting it by vehicle keeps causing it to be lost, the walkthrough suggests carrying it on foot instead.

Clear the ambush and lure the Behemoth
At the junkyard, place the canister in the lure device to trigger an ambush by Baron’s soldiers. Take cover and deal with nearby attackers. Activate the lure once the site is secure. The objective may display as “Clear the junkyard of Baron’s soldiers.”
Defeat the Behemoth
The walkthrough describes two phases, with broad arm swings, heavy slams that send straight shockwaves, thrown junk cars, Biter adds, and a chained triple ground pound. Stay mobile and dodge the shockwaves: the guide says they cannot be blocked.

- Move toward the Behemoth’s rear when you can, then use short melee combinations.
- Disengage before its next attack rather than extending a combo. Use a rifle when distance opens.
- Use Beast Mode when available to deal damage and help manage the added enemies.
- When the boss is low on health, use the finisher prompt, then collect the blood sample.
Drive the sample back to Olivia at the Monastery to finish the mission.

A September 22, 2025 AllThings.How guide reports a progression issue where “Clear the junkyard of Baron’s soldiers” can remain active after the ambush. Its suggested checks are secondary-source troubleshooting, and the current status of the issue is unconfirmed.

- Search the fence perimeter and elevated areas for a remaining soldier, including enemies distracted by infected.
- Use Survivor Sense to help locate anyone still nearby.
- Stay inside the mission boundary while checking the area.
- If the area appears clear but the marker remains, the guide suggests relaunching the game.
Techland’s official feed lists Anniversary Update 1.7 dated September 17, 2026, but the feed does not identify a fix for this quest issue: Techland news.
