Dying Light: The Beast’s Restored Land update launched on March 26, 2026, adding a solo survival experience built around persistent consequences, plus new challenges and rewards. Existing Standard Edition owners receive the Restored Land Edition upgrade for free.
What Restored Land changes
Restored Land is a solo experience set in Castor Woods. Techland sums up its defining rule as: “In Restored Land all actions have permanent consequences.” Killed zombies stay dead, looted items do not return, and activities such as Convoys, Dark Zones, and Hives need to be completed only once in this experience. Techland’s announcement describes the mode and its launch.
That changes the rhythm of exploration. Clearing an area can make it safer, but it also means its enemies and loot are gone for good. Containers hold fewer supplies, and shops have less stock at higher prices. With resources finite, hunger and replacing flashlight batteries become more consequential decisions. The available announcements describe Restored Land’s rules, but do not provide a complete rule-by-rule comparison with the standard experience.
New activities and rewards
Roadkill Rallies
Roadkill Rallies are competitive driving challenges that combine fighting zombies with choosing an efficient route. You can compare results on Friends Leaderboards; Global Leaderboards are available on consoles only.

More encounters and progression
The update also adds new finishers, achievements, hidden stashes, and high-risk zombie encounters with greater rewards. Techland and Level Infinite also cite improvements to special infected fights, co-op, gameplay, and performance. Level Infinite’s March 27, 2026 announcement lists seven new achievements and five hidden stashes.
The published quest-encounter count is inconsistent: Level Infinite’s detailed announcement says 33 new quest encounters, while a search-result summary for Techland’s “Restore the Land. Step by Step.” page says 36. Because the full Techland page could not be verified, neither number should be treated as a settled total.
What One Life mode means
One Life is an optional setting for the Restored Land experience. It gives you one attempt: if you die, the save is wiped and the run returns to the beginning. Techland says completing the experience with One Life enabled unlocks special rewards. This is a higher-stakes option, not a requirement for playing Restored Land.

Yes. Techland says owners of Dying Light: The Beast Standard Edition automatically receive the Restored Land Edition upgrade for free. The update is not presented as a separate paid purchase for those owners. Techland’s official announcement gives the upgrade terms.

Techland’s news index also lists a September 18, 2026 announcement of a physical edition in partnership with Super Rare Games. That announcement alone does not establish current ordering availability, platforms, or stock, so check a live listing before relying on a particular edition being available.
