Techland’s official Dying Light: The Beast FAQ says finishing the main story takes around 20–40 hours. The range is an estimate, not a guaranteed completion time: your pace and how much you explore will affect where your playthrough lands.

Why does Techland also say “40+ hours”?
The game’s official buy page promotes “40+ Hours Of Story & Survival.” That broader description covers story and survival gameplay; it is not a replacement for the FAQ’s 20–40-hour estimate for finishing the main story.
How long if you do side content and explore?
Optional activities can stretch a run beyond the main-story estimate. GamesRadar lists side quests, safe zones, dark zones, power relays, tasks, and collectibles as content players may take on. Its reviewer reported a 52-hour playthrough, and its guide estimated that a very thorough run could take up to about 60 hours. Those are an individual playthrough and an editorial estimate, not an official target or an average for all players.

PC Gamer reported that franchise director Tymon Smektała’s last playthrough took around 37 hours with the main story and side quests considered. That is one reported run, not a universal completion estimate. The figures are best compared by scope and source rather than averaged: a story-focused run is different from a completionist one.
Does New Game+ add more hours?
Techland’s New Game+ information says the mode lets players replay with gear and progression retained, while increasing difficulty. Techland does not quantify how many additional hours a New Game+ run takes, so its duration depends on how quickly you play and what content you choose to complete.

Does co-op make the game longer?
The official buy page describes solo and co-op play with shared progression. The available information does not establish a dependable co-op time multiplier, so there is no supported number of extra hours to add to the main-story estimate.
