Vengeance Is Mine is a story quest in Dying Light: The Beast in which Kyle tries to reach the Baron through a mine. The route takes you from a climb to meet the Sheriff, through guarded and infected areas, to a terminal, a betrayal, and an escape past Volatiles before you return to Town Hall. The steps and rewards below are reported by independent walkthroughs, not confirmed in an official Techland mission guide.
Meet the Sheriff at the mine
- Follow the marked climb toward the mine and meet the Sheriff. Neoseeker’s walkthrough describes ledges marked along the climb.
- Deal with the guards near the entrance. Stealth is one option; a separate guide suggests taking out the elevated sniper first. That is tactical advice, not a required mechanic, and the guides do not establish one mandatory approach.
Enter the mine and reach the terminal
- Move through the mine, watching for Baron’s armed men as well as infected held back by UV lights. The guides describe additional traversal sections before the route reaches a stronghold area.
- Use cover and stealth where they help you avoid ranged enemies, but do not treat stealth as compulsory throughout; the walkthroughs also describe areas where a more aggressive approach is possible.
- At the stronghold, look for the interactable terminal or control panel near the central cell and use it to advance the quest.
Escape after the betrayal
After the terminal interaction and cutscene, the Sheriff betrays Kyle. Climb out of the mine and get past the Volatile area. The guides recommend different tactics: one suggests turning off the flashlight and sneaking around the nest; Neoseeker recommends using a decoy and running. In either case, the problem is to avoid detection or move through the danger quickly.

Return to Town Hall
Once you have escaped, go back to Town Hall and speak to Jacob. Neoseeker’s walkthrough says Jacob reports that the Sheriff has fled, completing the quest.

Platforms and co-op context
Techland lists Dying Light: The Beast for PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5 / PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S. Its FAQ says the standard adventure can be played solo or in co-op for up to four players with shared progression. It also says Restored Land was designed as a solo experience, so do not assume that every mode supports co-op.
Techland says its enhanced Restored Land package has been available since March 26, 2026, with the base experience, earlier updates, and Restored Land content. The FAQ identifies Legend Levels, New Game+, Nightmare Mode, and gameplay improvements among its features. Techland estimates the main story takes around 20–40 hours; that is an overall estimate, not a time for this mission.
