No. In ordinary Minecraft survival play, Mending and Infinity are mutually exclusive bow enchantments: the game will not let you apply both through normal methods. Neither enchantment cancels the other after a valid application. If commands put both on a bow, both effects work, according to the Minecraft Wiki’s Infinity entry.
Why won’t a Mending bow combine with an Infinity bow?
Mending and Infinity are incompatible under ordinary survival rules, so an anvil will not combine them onto one bow. The restriction is about applying the enchantments together, not one effect overriding the other. The Minecraft Wiki’s enchanting guide lists them as mutually exclusive.
Historical Java snapshots have allowed the combination, and commands can create a bow with both enchantments. On a command-created bow, both effects function. Customized servers, mods, or legacy items may behave differently from standard survival rules.
What does each enchantment do?
Infinity conserves ordinary arrows
Infinity lets a bow fire regular arrows without consuming them, but you must still have at least one regular arrow in your inventory. Tipped and spectral arrows are consumed normally. See the Minecraft Wiki’s details on Infinity.

Mending repairs the bow with experience
Mending uses experience to repair the enchanted item. Microsoft’s Bedrock enchantment reference describes Mending as repairing an item at the cost of experience.

How to troubleshoot a specific bow
- Check whether you are playing Java or Bedrock and note the game version; the ordinary survival restriction should not be assumed to cover every historical snapshot.
- Confirm whether the bow was created or altered with commands. Both enchantments can function together on a command-created bow.
- If you are on a server or using mods, check its rules, since they can change standard enchantment behavior.
