The shared clue in walkthroughs is tied-back hair and a wound on the right arm—but follow the notice in your own game if its description differs.
Where to start “Shadowed Prayers”
“Shadowed Prayers” is a Bakbattahl side quest. When it becomes available, go to Flamebearer Palace and speak with Menella, who asks the Arisen to find the assassin targeting the Empress during her prayers. Game8’s walkthrough and PowerPyx’s walkthrough place the quest at the palace.

How to identify the assassin
Read the Bandit Bill of Arrest, or review the clue Menella gives you. The commonly reported description is a person with tied-back hair and an injured right arm. During the prayer sequence, inspect the people gathered on the steps and look for someone matching both details.
GameSpot notes that the arrest-bill clue may vary by player. If your notice gives a different description, use the one shown in your game rather than relying on a generic appearance description. GameSpot’s suspect guide discusses the notice, while Gamer Guides also identifies the hair and right-arm wound clues.

How to apprehend the suspect
- Be at Flamebearer Palace for Nadinia’s prayer sequence.
- Scan the people on the steps and find the person matching the arrest notice.
- Grab the matching person to apprehend them and complete the immediate objective.
PowerPyx cautions that once the sequence starts, you should finish it rather than leave it unfinished. Make your identification and act during the event.
Quest reward and what it unlocks
SAMURAI GAMERS’ 2024 walkthrough lists the reward as 3,500 XP, 18,000 G, and five Jasper. PowerPyx lists “Shadowed Prayers” as a requirement for the later side quest “A Candle in the Storm.”

If Nadinia dies or the event goes wrong
The available walkthroughs do not establish every failure outcome or whether revival and other recovery options change quest progression. Avoid assuming that a particular recovery method will preserve the quest; the documented guidance is to match the in-game notice and apprehend the suspect during the prayer sequence.
