In Dragonkin: The Banished, your character’s ordinary levels stop at 50. After that, earned experience goes to an Ancestor instead, so the next step depends on whether you are still progressing your character, advancing the hunt maps, or building post-cap Ancestor bonuses. There is no verified best XP farm: the official material describes activities and progression gates, but does not compare their experience rewards.
Choose a hero for the combat style you enjoy
The official game listing describes the Knight and Barbarian as close-combat heroes, and the Oracle and Archer as ranged heroes. Treat that as a play-style choice, not a leveling-speed ranking; published sources do not establish that one hero levels faster than another. See the Steam game listing.

How progression works before level 50
Before the character cap, experience advances your character level. Progression also involves equipment, your Wyrmling, and the Ancestral Grid. Skills are acquired as battle loot and arranged in the grid with modifiers, so use the drops and modifiers you find to support a coherent approach to combat rather than waiting for a supposedly guaranteed leveling build. The official listing describes these systems but does not provide a level-by-level XP table or a tested build route. Game features and system overview.
Story or endgame: choose based on what you want next

What changes at level 50
Level 50 is the character-level cap described in Eko Software’s February 25, 2026 Multiplayer Update. Once you reach it, experience begins going to an Ancestor rather than advancing ordinary character levels. The update lists 14 Ancestors, each providing progressive stat bonuses and passive abilities. You can select an Ancestor at any time, so this is a flexible post-cap progression system, not a continuation of character levels without limit. February 25, 2026 Multiplayer Update.
Use Tributes to activate Ancestor combinations
Tributes come from story and endgame hunts. Place them on the wall to activate Ancestor combinations through the affinity system. If you are choosing what to do after reaching the cap, Ancestor experience and Tribute collection are the relevant progression goals described by the official update—not further ordinary character levels. How Hunting Maps progress
Hunting Maps are a sequence: defeat the required number of foes, take on the map’s final Dragon Lord hunt, then unlock the next map. Eko Software’s hunt redesign notes estimate regular hunts at 10–15 minutes and final hunts at up to 20–25 minutes. Those are developer-published activity durations, not measured XP rates or a basis for deciding which hunt is the most efficient leveling activity. Official hunt redesign notes.

The official progression sources do not publish XP rewards by activity, a level-by-level campaign XP table, or a verified repeatable farm. That means there is no substantiated basis here to recommend a particular hunt or story segment as the fastest route. Before level 50, follow the content you want to play and use its skill and equipment drops; after level 50, experience advances an Ancestor.
