To get the Sword of Kings in Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, collect the Orichalcum, Broken Blade, and Forging Hammer, then give all three to the weaponsmith on the second floor of Kol’s item shop. The items are in Damdara, Cantlin, and Jipang.
Start the Sword of Kings quest in Kol
Find the weaponsmith on the second floor of the item shop in Kol and speak with him. His dialogue establishes that he needs the materials and is missing his hammer. You can collect the three items in any order; the route below groups each item with its location.

Find the three required items
Orichalcum: Damdara
Go to Damdara and inspect the sparkling spot in the horse stable in the southeast of town to collect the Orichalcum.
Broken Blade: Cantlin
In Cantlin, search the second floor of the building on the west side to find the Broken Blade.

Forging Hammer: Jipang
Visit the house in the northwest of Jipang and search there for the Forging Hammer.
Return to the weaponsmith
With all three items, return to the second floor of Kol’s item shop and talk to the weaponsmith. Hand over the Orichalcum, Broken Blade, and Forging Hammer to receive the Sword of Kings. The remake’s recipe requires all three items; it is not just an Orichalcum hand-in.

Sword of Kings stats and effect
The remake-specific Dragon Quest Wiki entry lists the Sword of Kings at attack +140 and says it casts Kaswoosh when used as an item in battle. That reference does not establish a complete list of vocations that can equip it or whether it is the best weapon for a particular character, so those comparisons are not included here.

This route is for Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, not an earlier version of Dragon Quest III. The remake’s three-item requirement differs from the Orichalcum-focused descriptions sometimes used for other versions. A PS5 trophy guide by JulieSu, updated January 11, 2025, also connects obtaining the sword with the bronze “Stately Sword” trophy. Nintendo lists the game for Nintendo Switch and announced its availability on November 14, 2024, in its launch announcement.
