Episode Battle in DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO follows selected characters through story battles, with some choices and fight outcomes opening alternate developments. Use the story map to revisit a node and change a choice; use the character index below to identify the campaign you need. The eight campaigns listed at launch are not the full current lineup: later DLC adds four more Episode Battles.
Choose a character campaign
Bandai Namco’s launch announcement named these eight Episode Battle campaigns. It also notes that campaign lengths vary and that skill and choices can open branching “What If” paths. The list below is the launch roster, not a claim about the current total.
- Goku
- Vegeta
- Gohan
- Piccolo
- Jiren
- Future Trunks
- Goku Black
- Frieza
For a character-specific route, identify the episode node shown on the map, then check whether the branch depends on a choice, a battle outcome, or a condition displayed in the game. Official materials explain how branching works, but do not publish a complete list of route triggers, so an exact condition should be treated as confirmed only when it is verified for that node and game version. How to revisit a branch or alternate route
Use the story map to return to the relevant node
The story map shows campaign progress and lets you revisit earlier story points to change choices. Return to the node where the split begins rather than replaying the entire campaign by default. The mode combines narrative scenes and character-specific fights, and a battle result can affect how a scenario proceeds. Bandai Namco’s Episode Battle handbook
#1 Best Overall
- Engage in heart-pounding, high-speed 3D battles that stay true to the anime and video game series
- This game contains breathtaking visuals and authentic combat moves like beam clashes, rush attacks, and movements too quick for the eyes to see
- Step into an arena that reacts to your every action including planet-razing ultimate attacks
- Watch the environment respond with stunning realism, and leave a trail of destruction in your wake as you battle to your heart’s content
Check what the branch actually requires
- Choice: Select the alternate response at the relevant story point.
- Battle result: Follow the node’s stated objective and check whether the outcome changes the next event.
- Conditional result: If the game displays a specific requirement, use that wording; do not assume an unverified timer or hidden trigger.
Separate a change in the immediate story scene from a larger “What If” route. A branch may alter an event without requiring you to replay more than the node where it starts.
Example: Goku and Raditz
A Dragon Ball Official Site report on a pre-release demo described a choice to face Raditz with Piccolo or go alone. In that demo branch, going alone brought Krillin, Kamesennin, and Bulma into the rescue effort, and the alternate events left Goku alive without the same Planet of the Kaio training as in the original story. This is an illustration of branching, not a complete or current route walkthrough. Dragon Ball Official Site demo report

Later Episode Battle content and platform scope
Bandai Namco’s July 30, 2026 announcement says the Super Limit-Breaking NEO DLC adds four Episode Battles, four stages, and 33 playable characters. The announcement said it was available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, with Switch and Switch 2 releases to follow. It does not name the four Episode Battle characters in the information cited here, so the launch roster above should not be treated as a complete list of current campaigns. The announcement does not establish current Switch or Switch 2 DLC availability. Bandai Namco’s DLC announcement

Difficulty changes
On January 20, 2025, Bandai Namco announced that Episode Battle difficulty could be changed even when using a Dragon Orb. That is a dated feature note, not a complete record of every later change. January 2025 update notice

For a useful, reproducible route guide, note the campaign and map node, the exact in-game condition text, the required choice or battle outcome, and where to return if the player wants to try the other path. Include platform, control scheme, game version, and any difficulty or DLC dependency when they affect the instructions. Do not present an unverified timed win, hidden trigger, or route outcome as established fact.
