PS5 Pro Enhanced Requirements: What the Label Does—and Doesn’t—Guarantee

The PS5 Pro Enhanced label marks games updated for Pro features, but it does not guarantee a particular resolution, frame rate, PSSR, or ray tracing. Here’s how to check what each game actually adds.

There is no single public numeric requirement for the PS5 Pro Enhanced label. Sony uses it to identify games updated to take advantage of PS5 Pro features, but the specific improvements vary by game. The label alone does not guarantee 4K, 60 fps, PSSR, or ray tracing.

What makes a game PS5 Pro Enhanced?

Sony’s description is broad: the label identifies games updated to take advantage of PS5 Pro features. In its September 10, 2024 announcement, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Hideaki Nishino said, “These games can be identified with a PS5 Pro Enhanced label within their title.” (Sony’s announcement.)

The official product and announcement pages reviewed do not publish a universal pass/fail checklist or minimum resolution, frame rate, or required feature set for every game with the label. The useful way to understand it is as a marker for a Pro-focused update—not a promise that each game implements the same upgrades.

Does every PS5 Pro Enhanced game run at 4K and 60 fps?

No. Sony says compatible games can combine ray tracing, PSSR-based AI-enhanced 4K resolution, and 60 fps or up to 120 fps on a 4K TV. That describes what compatible titles can offer; it is not a requirement or guarantee for every enhanced game. The actual resolution, frame-rate target, ray-tracing features, and available modes depend on the individual title and its update. (Sony’s PS5 Pro product page.)

  • Stunning Visuals - Experience the vast world in stunning 4K and HDR at 120 FPS (with a 4K and HDR compatible TV or display)
  • Breathtaking Immersion - Discover a deeper gaming experience with support for haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and 3D Audio technology.
  • Backwards Compatibility - Play over 4,000 PS4 games on PS5. Enjoy faster and smoother frame rates in some of the PS4 console's greatest games.

What kinds of upgrades can the label cover?

Sony highlights three broad feature areas: PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), advanced ray tracing, and higher or more consistent frame rates. PSSR is Sony’s AI-based upscaling technology; the product page associates it with improved image clarity in compatible titles and on compatible displays. A game may use one or more of these approaches, and developers’ examples show that implementations differ.

Game or series Developer-described PS5 Pro improvement
The Last of Us Part I and The Last of Us Part II Remastered Naughty Dog described a Pro-specific enhanced mode that renders at 1440p, uses PSSR to upscale to 4K, and targets 60 fps.
Selected Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank games Insomniac Games described Performance Pro modes combining 4K resolution and ray-tracing features associated with Fidelity mode with the 60 fps Performance mode.
Alan Wake 2 Remedy described ray tracing as a new feature and an increase to 4K output resolution in its 60 fps Performance mode.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard BioWare described improvements to both Fidelity and Performance modes, including ray-traced ambient occlusion in the 60 fps Performance mode.
Metal Gear Solid Delta Konami described PSSR making vegetation more vivid, along with smoother gameplay and better frame rates.

These are developer descriptions published in Sony’s September 24, 2024 roundup, not a shared performance floor. Modes and game updates may change, so check the current patch notes or publisher information for a specific title. (Sony’s developer roundup.)

How to check what a specific game’s enhancement does

  1. Check Sony’s current PS5 Pro games list. Sony’s product page currently says more than 100 PS5 titles are enhanced with the power of PS5 Pro. The count and list can change; the figure reflects the page as accessed October 8, 2026.
  2. Confirm the game and its current update. A label or list entry identifies Pro support, but does not by itself specify the patch version or every mode. Check the game’s current update notes or publisher description.
  3. Compare the modes, not just the badge. Look for the stated resolution or reconstruction method, frame-rate target, ray-tracing features, and trade-offs between modes.
  4. Check display compatibility for the mode you want. Sony’s simultaneous 4K, ray tracing, and 60 fps or up-to-120-fps statement applies to compatible games; some output modes also depend on a compatible 4K or high-refresh-rate TV. A new display is not required simply to play an enhanced game.

What the hardware figures do—and don’t—tell you

Sony’s 2024 launch announcement compared PS5 Pro hardware with the then-current PS5, citing 67% more GPU compute units, memory that is 28% faster, and gameplay rendering up to 45% faster. These are console-level comparisons, not per-game results or requirements for the Enhanced label. They do not establish what frame rate or resolution any particular game will achieve. Sony also said more than 8,500 backward-compatible PS4 games could be played on PS5 Pro; Game Boost may stabilize or improve performance for supported PS4 and PS5 games, but that does not mean those games received a Pro-specific update.
