Prepare for the Night Aspect showdown
Heolstor is the final Nightlord in the Night Aspect Expedition. Expeditions have two days of exploration and mandatory night boss encounters before the Nightlord showdown on day three, according to Bandai Namco Europe’s official starter guide.

Use the first two days to build a run that can survive the final fight: gather runes and levels, look for weapons with useful skills or passives, and collect offensive or defensive consumables. Bandai Namco’s beginner tips recommend level 10 or higher for the second night. Encounter guides suggest aiming for level 14 or close to 15 before Heolstor, but those are guide-specific targets, not required levels or guarantees of victory.
Choose damage and protection you can actually use
Holy damage is the most consistent weakness recommendation across the guides. Take a Holy weapon or Holy Grease if one fits your build and appears during the run, but do not depend on a particular drop. PC Gamer and the specialist guide also identify Scarlet Rot as a possible source of added pressure. Do not build around poison, bleed, or frostbite as a Heolstor weakness strategy; the cited guides do not recommend them.

Plan for both physical and magical attacks, and be ready to adjust as the fight’s elemental hazards change. The specialist guide gives exact Holy damage multipliers, but those figures are tied to launch-version guidance and are not established here as current values.
Pick a Nightfarer for your skill and team
No single Nightfarer is established as the universally best choice. Windows Central’s guide recommends Executor for players confident with parries. PC Gamer’s guide discusses several alternatives, each with a different contribution:
- Executor: rewards reliable parry timing; a poor fit if parrying is inconsistent for you.
- Raider: can contribute stagger pressure.
- Duchess: can use Restage and reapply status effects.
- Wylder: offers mobility for repositioning.
- Guardian: adds defense and healing support.
- Ironeye: provides ranged damage and team utility.
Choose around your party’s gaps: reliable defense, ranged coverage, mobility, or stagger pressure can all help. These are role considerations, not a required team composition.
Opening: conserve resources against Shape of Night
The encounter begins with the Shape of Night, a comparatively readable form whose sword attacks can be rolled through. Wait for a combo to finish, then take the punish window rather than attacking into the sequence. Windows Central and the specialist guide both frame this opening as a chance to conserve resources.

Unless the run is in danger, avoid spending healing flasks or an Ultimate Art just to shorten this phase. Keeping them available matters more once Heolstor’s faster attacks and arena hazards arrive.
Greatsword phase: respond to the tell, then punish
After the transformation, Heolstor’s greatsword attacks make positioning more dangerous. Two moves call for especially deliberate responses:
Thrust followed by an explosion
- When Heolstor commits to the forward thrust, roll through it rather than away.
- As the sword is driven into the ground, sprint clear of the coming explosion.
- Return to attack only after the blast has landed; the brief recovery is your opening.
The roll-through and retreat sequence is the response recommended by Windows Central. Do not stay close to chase damage between the thrust and explosion.

Aerial slam and delayed ground blasts
For the aerial slam, use the marked ground danger as your cue. Sprint out of the threatened area or time a delayed dodge if you cannot clear it in time. The specialist guide describes delayed explosions after the slam; reacting to the ground marker is safer than committing to a fixed dodge direction that may not suit your position.

Heavy attacks may create a stagger opportunity during this stage, according to the specialist guide, but do not count on every hit interrupting Heolstor. Treat a stagger as an opening if it happens, not as a substitute for evading the attack.
Magic arcs into a delayed thrust
When Heolstor sends out magic arcs before a thrust, dodge through the arcs and watch for the follow-up. Delay your next dodge until the thrust commits rather than panic-rolling as soon as the projectiles appear. The sequence and timing advice come from encounter guides, so follow the in-game tell if the attack’s timing looks different in your run.

Later attacks add more magic and arena-wide danger. Windows Central reports that a tear in the sky changes color to indicate the element or status effect Heolstor has infused into his attacks. Treat that color as a cue to observe, not as a chart to memorize: watch the attack itself and respond to the hazard visible in your arena.
Tracking projectiles and darkness
When darkness and tracking projectiles appear, move laterally with Surge Sprint if available, or dodge away as the projectiles arrive. Avoid running in a straight line while watching only Heolstor; keep enough attention on the projectiles to time the dodge.
Ground fissures and delayed eruptions
When fissures form, shift your attention to the arena floor and move onto clear ground before the delayed eruptions. Continue tracking Heolstor so you can anticipate the next attack, but do not stay on a dangerous patch just to maintain damage. Resume attacking after the immediate ground threat passes.
Using an Ultimate Art to interrupt
The specialist guide describes an Ultimate Art as a possible way to interrupt Cover of Darkness. This is a high-cost, single-guide tactic rather than a routine answer to the move. Consider coordinating it with teammates only if the group knows the timing; otherwise, keep the Ultimate for a reliable opening or a moment when it can prevent a wipe.
