EA said EA SPORTS College Football 25 had 5 million unique players through its first week, with more than 500,000 additional players participating through the EA Play trial. Those are player counts—not reported sales of paid copies.
How many people played College Football 25 in its first week?
Electronic Arts reported the 5 million unique-player milestone in its July 30, 2024, Q1 FY25 results release. EA separately said more than 500,000 additional players tried the game through EA Play.

The distinction matters: EA described people who played the game, including a separate trial figure. It did not say that 5 million paid copies were sold. The release presents a company-reported player metric, not an independently audited sales total.
How does the first-week figure compare with Early Access?
EA had shared an earlier launch-period snapshot on July 19, 2024: 2.2 million unique players during Early Access, plus 600,000 players through the EA Play trial, according to its launch announcement.

These are separate reports from different points in the launch period. EA did not provide enough detail about overlap or the counting methodology to combine them into a cumulative total or treat them as directly comparable. The later first-week report also described trial players separately, at more than 500,000.

EA SPORTS College Football 25 launched worldwide on July 19, 2024, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. EA called it the franchise’s official return to college football. Its launch announcement said the game included all 134 FBS universities, more than 150 stadiums, and thousands of current college football athletes.

The modes EA named included Dynasty, Road to Glory, Road to the College Football Playoff, and College Football Ultimate Team. The Associated Press described the 2024 release as EA’s first college football game in more than a decade; the predecessor series stopped after 2013 amid lawsuits over player likeness use, according to its May 16, 2024, report.
