You can download EA games for PC legally without paying for the base game by choosing a free-to-play title and installing it through EA’s official app. Start with EA’s Free-to-Play Games catalog, check each game’s page to confirm PC availability, then download it using an EA Account. Free-to-play does not mean every optional item or feature is free.
Which EA games are free to play on PC?
EA’s free-to-play catalog includes Apex Legends and The Sims 4, as well as games listed for mobile and consoles. The catalog is not a PC-only list, so open the individual game page and verify that it offers a PC version before downloading. Availability may vary by region and can change; check the listing for your location.
EA describes these games as free-to-play: you can play without buying the base game. Optional in-game content may still be offered for purchase. The catalog itself does not establish that every item, add-on, or feature is free.
How to download an EA game legally on PC
Use EA’s official app rather than an unofficial installer or download mirror. EA requires the EA app to play its games on PC, including EA games launched through Steam or Epic.

- Sign in: Launch the app and sign in with an EA Account, or create one.
- Find the game: Open Library and select the game you want. Confirm that the listing is for PC.
- Set up the install: Confirm the installation location and language, then accept the Terms of Play.
- Download: Select Download and let the app install the game.

Check your PC and account requirements first
EA’s stated app support is Windows 10 or 11 on a 64-bit PC. For Mac, EA Help says the app supports macOS 10.15.8 or later and is available on Catalina or newer. Check EA’s current app page and EA app installation and update guidance for the latest compatibility details.

App compatibility does not guarantee that a particular game will run well—or at all—on your computer. Minimum hardware requirements differ by game. Check the game’s page in the EA app or its Game Hub before downloading.
EA’s PC legal disclosures state that EA app games require an internet connection, an EA Account, acceptance of the EA User Agreement, and the EA app. Online features may eventually be retired; the disclosures do not give a universal retirement date for all games.

Free-to-play games versus free offers for paid games
A free-to-play listing means the base game can be played without purchase. A temporary giveaway or promotion for a normally paid game is different: it can expire, and the cited sources do not verify any current promotion. EA’s trusted retailer information names outlets such as Steam, Epic Games, and Humble Bundle for paid digital downloads; that list is not evidence that a paid game is currently free.
