Beahm responded the next day, acknowledging that he had exchanged messages with a minor in 2017 while describing those conversations in his own terms. The studio said it was terminating him; Beahm said his departure was a collective decision for him to step down. Midnight Society later shut down, and Deadrop was discontinued before release.
Why Midnight Society ended its relationship with Dr Disrespect
Midnight Society said it learned of an allegation against Beahm on Friday, June 21, 2024, and began speaking with the parties involved. On June 24, the studio announced: “For this reason, we are terminating our relationship with Guy Beahm immediately.” The statement framed the decision as necessary to uphold the studio’s principles and standards, and cited its responsibility to employees, their families, and its player community. Game Informer reproduced the statement.
The announcement followed renewed reporting about the reason for Beahm’s 2020 Twitch ban. A former Twitch employee alleged that Beahm sent messages to a minor through Twitch Whispers and tried to arrange a meeting at TwitchCon. Those are the former employee’s claims; they should not be confused with Beahm’s separate account or treated here as independently established findings.
What Beahm said in response
On June 25, Beahm acknowledged exchanging messages with a minor in 2017. He described them as “casual, mutual conversations that sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate, but nothing more.” That wording is Beahm’s characterization of the exchanges, not a neutral finding. He denied having real intentions or committing criminal conduct.
