Yes. EA says it used LiDAR scans to update five F1 25 circuits: Bahrain, Miami, Melbourne, Suzuka and Imola. Those tracks joined Silverstone, which EA says had been digitally scanned previously. The scans were intended to capture fine track and surrounding details, but EA has not published a numerical accuracy improvement or independent validation.
Which F1 25 tracks were scanned with LiDAR?
EA lists five newly scanned circuits: Bahrain, Miami, Melbourne, Suzuka and Imola. Its F1 25 FAQ says they join Silverstone, which had already been digitally scanned.

Formula 1’s launch report independently repeats the five-circuit list and says the scans took place across a race weekend. It does not specify the precise session or date used for each circuit.
What did the LiDAR scans capture?
LiDAR stands for “Light Detection and Ranging.” EA says the scans generated millions of data points to help reproduce details such as asphalt surfaces, kerb heights, distances to barriers, bumps and elevation changes. Its launch release also names features in the surroundings, including broadcast towers, barriers, trees and foliage.

EA describes these details as inputs for recreating the circuits with greater fidelity, including making bumps and changes in elevation perceptible in the game. That is the developer’s stated purpose, not a published measurement of how much more accurate the tracks became.
What has EA not quantified?
The official descriptions establish that EA used LiDAR data in updating the five named circuits, but they do not provide a point-cloud resolution, an accuracy percentage or an independent test of the resulting tracks. They also do not establish that every part of every circuit was scanned or that LiDAR alone created each complete track asset.

EA has not detailed the scanning hardware or contractor, or how scan data were processed and integrated into game assets. The claim is therefore best read as a description of a track-update method and its intended contribution—not as a quantified guarantee of real-world precision.

EA and Formula 1 state that F1 25 launched on May 30, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Those launch details provide context for the game in which the LiDAR-updated circuits appeared; they do not indicate that every platform received a distinct scanning treatment.
