Great Hammer is a weapon class, distinct from Colossal Weapons. Eldenpedia’s armaments list includes Large Club, Curved Great Club, Great Mace, Pickaxe, Brick Hammer, Battle Hammer, Rotten Battle Hammer, Celebrant’s Skull, Great Stars, Black Steel Greathammer, Smithscript Greathammer, Greathorn Hammer, Envoy’s Long Horn, Cranial Vessel Candlestand, Beastclaw Greathammer, and Devourer’s Scepter. Eldenpedia’s armaments list and a second Great Hammers class list confirm several familiar examples, including Great Stars, Brick Hammer, Great Mace, Large Club, and Curved Great Club.

Giant-Crusher is a separate case
Giant-Crusher appears on the Colossal Weapons list, not in the Great Hammers class. It may fit what a player means informally by “big hammer,” but it should not be counted in a strict Great Hammer ranking. Eldenpedia’s armaments list
Why a definitive ranking would be misleading
A useful “best” list needs comparable evidence for the same game version and a clearly defined build and use case. The available class lists establish which weapons belong in the category, but they do not establish a current, item-by-item comparison of damage, requirements, scaling, reach, attack speed, stamina use, stance pressure, effects, acquisition, or upgrade paths. Without those details, ordering the weapons would imply certainty the evidence does not support.

How to choose the right Great Hammer
Start with your build
Compare each weapon’s attribute requirements and scaling with the character you actually play. A Strength-focused character and a Dexterity or hybrid character may value different weapons; a recommendation that ignores those requirements is not universal.
Compare practical use, not just a damage number
For candidates you can wield, consider reach, speed, stamina demands, stance pressure, and the moveset you intend to use. These are useful comparison criteria, but no verified side-by-side values are established here, so no specific hammer can be declared the winner on those axes.
Account for distinct utility
Damage type, passive effects, weapon skill, and affinity or infusion flexibility can distinguish two weapons that otherwise suit a similar build. Check each weapon’s current properties before treating any of those features as an advantage.

Include progression cost
Where and when a weapon becomes available, its upgrade material path, and the stat investment needed to wield it all affect whether it is a practical choice for a playthrough. Those item-specific progression details are not established here, so a location or early-game recommendation would be guesswork.

They are reasonable candidates to compare for a particular build, but the available evidence does not justify ranking one above another. A current recommendation should compare their verified in-game requirements, performance, utility, and availability under the same assumptions.

“Best Great Hammer” should mean best for a stated character and purpose, not an unqualified winner.
