EA’s September 2025 title update for EA SPORTS College Football 26 was scheduled for September 11, following its announcement the day before. It covered gameplay, Dynasty, Road to Glory, Ultimate Team, Road to the College Football Playoffs, presentation, equipment, and audio. The notes below describe changes EA announced or said it fixed; they are not independent tests of how the patch performed.
What changed in gameplay and playbooks?
The update added a default Base Protection option for dropback passing plays. EA’s note says players can still change pass protection before the snap. It also listed adjustments and fixes across blocking, coverage, passing, running, AI, and special teams.

- Adjusted pass blocking, defensive-front logic, coverage, catching, and hit animations; corrected protection UI and offensive-line slide behavior.
- Added the Odd Ghost defensive formation to the 3-3-5 and 3-2-6 playbooks.
- Fixed issues involving play-action, Jet Reverse Pass, RPO Peek Glance, auto-motion collisions, wildcat jukes, QB speed burst, handoff animations, player alignment, hot-route timing, and freeform passing reticle behavior.
- Adjusted AI defensive playcalling and safety depth during coaching adjustments, and fixed kick-return issues.
These are developer-reported changes; EA’s notes do not establish their measured effect on gameplay.
What did the Dynasty update address?
EA listed fixes affecting recruiting, player development, roster logic, season health, records, and online Dynasty controls. The work included offseason visits and recruiting influence; manual progression XP, including online manual progression; playing-style statistics and team-needs double counting; playing-time dealbreakers and grades; career records; scheduled visits; visibility of other users’ dealbreakers; defensive-tackle auto-sub availability; Trophy Room banners; post-game completion counts; and Online Dynasty ready-to-advance controls.

Its size still depends on how full the pool is at the end of the current season, but EA described the next-season pool as more forgiving when a player uses much of the current season’s health.

What changed in Road to Glory?
- Fixed the user-controlled player being randomly substituted because of fatigue.
- Fixed sacks failing to lower tape scores in Highlight Moments.
- Added a confirmation prompt before quitting a high-school moment.
- Removed the illegal-touching penalty from high-school gameplay.
- Added a new Chipotle NIL deal in the mode. EA’s notes do not give its terms; the mention describes in-game content, not a real-world offer.
What Ultimate Team fixes were included?
The notes span Field Pass progression and rewards, lineup and team-management displays, the store and packs, challenges, events and head-to-head, interface issues, crashes and disconnects, and tracking or onboarding. Specific examples include a fix for a Field Pass screen hang, corrected lineup text and value displays, restoration of the “Open Next Pack” option, and corrected ranked results.
How did Road to the College Football Playoffs change?
EA changed rank-point gains and starting ranks, while leaving the number of wins needed to move up or remain in a division unchanged.

EA said the rank changes were intended to reduce playoff qualification with a losing record in lower divisions and improve qualification for strong records against tougher opponents. It linked the longer quarters to giving players more time to overcome home-field advantage. Those are EA’s stated aims, not independently measured outcomes.
