People who filed before the deadline can check the FTC’s payment information and watch for updates, but the agency has not given a definite date for any remaining payments.
Can I still claim part of the Fortnite settlement?
No. The FTC’s Fortnite Refunds page says it is no longer accepting claims. The final filing deadline was July 9, 2025. Earlier deadlines were extended and the program reopened, but those earlier dates do not change the final deadline.

If you never filed a claim, there is no current application route through this settlement. Be wary of anyone offering to submit a late claim for a fee or claiming they can guarantee a payment.
Who was eligible for the refund program?
The program covered specific past Fortnite purchase and account issues. The FTC listed these eligibility categories:

- You were charged in-game currency for items you did not want between January 2017 and September 2022.
- Your child made credit-card charges without your knowledge between January 2017 and November 2018.
- Your Fortnite account was locked between January 2017 and September 2022 after you complained to your credit-card company about wrongful charges.
A person had to be at least 18 to complete the claim form. Someone younger than 18 needed a parent or guardian to submit it. Meeting a listed category did not itself guarantee approval.
What is the status of payments?
The FTC reported that in June 2025 it sent 969,173 payments totaling more than $126 million to people with valid claims filed by February 14, 2025. For claims filed later, the FTC said it expected additional payments in 2026 after reviewing and validating them. Its current page does not give a specific date for those payments or a final total.

If you filed a claim, use the FTC’s official refund page for current information. The page lists the refund administrator’s phone number as 1-833-915-0880; check the page before calling in case contact details have changed.
How much could a claimant receive?
The $245 million figure is the total settlement amount Epic agreed to pay for consumer refunds—not the amount each person receives. The FTC says an approved payment depends on several factors, including how many people file claims. It does not state a fixed award per claimant.

The FTC reported a payment round of more than $126 million in June 2025, but that total should not be divided by the number of payments to estimate an individual award. The agency says payment amounts vary based on program factors.
How are approved payments delivered?
The FTC says recipients receive the payment type they selected during the claim process. If you receive one, follow the instructions and deadlines provided with it: the FTC says checks must be cashed within 90 days and PayPal payments accepted within 30 days.

How can I avoid Fortnite refund scams?
Use the FTC’s official page for status and payment instructions. The agency warns: “The FTC will never demand money, make threats, tell you to transfer money, or promise you a prize.” Treat messages that ask for an upfront fee, threaten consequences, or promise a guaranteed refund as suspicious.

In 2023, Epic agreed to pay $245 million to settle FTC allegations concerning practices that led to unwanted Fortnite purchases. That amount funded consumer refunds. It is separate from the FTC’s distinct $275 million penalty concerning children’s privacy; the privacy penalty was not part of the consumer refund payout.
