Yes: Fallout games saw a major Steam-player jump after the TV series premiered in April 2024, then another after Season 2 began airing in December 2025. Fallout 4, Fallout: New Vegas, and Fallout 76 all feature in reports about both waves. The best-documented figures are Steam concurrent-player peaks—not total players across consoles and PC storefronts—and the latest figures covered here are from January 2026, not today.
Did the Fallout TV show bring players back to the games?
The timing points to repeat waves of renewed interest. In April 2024, reports described rising Steam activity for Fallout 4, Fallout: New Vegas, and Fallout 76 around the show’s first-season premiere. Game Developer reported that SteamDB counts for the three games doubled around the April 11 premiere period; Ars Technica likewise documented jumps while emphasizing that Steam figures cover only players using that storefront.

There is also first-party qualitative confirmation for Fallout 76. In a December 2025 Xbox Wire retrospective, the Fallout 76 team said: “After Season 1 of the Fallout TV show dropped, we saw an amazing number of players, both new and old, come in and play.” The team did not give a number, so the statement confirms an influx but cannot establish its size.
A second reported wave followed Season 2’s start in December 2025. PC Gamer compared Steam peak concurrent-player counts from November 2025 with January 2026, after the new season had begun airing. The timing is consistent with the show renewing interest, but does not prove that the series alone caused each increase: winter discounts and other game activity could also have contributed.

Which Fallout games saw the biggest reported increases?
These SteamDB figures, reported by PC Gamer on January 6, 2026, compare each game’s November 2025 peak with its January 2026 peak. They are peak concurrent players—the number playing simultaneously—not unique players over a month or season.
| Game | November 2025 Steam peak | January 2026 Steam peak | Change between reported peaks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fallout: New Vegas | 8,317 | 19,216 | About 2.3 times as high |
| Fallout 4 | 25,238 | 44,273 | About 1.8 times as high |
| Fallout 76 | 14,628 | 29,264 | About 2.0 times as high |
Among those three, New Vegas had the largest proportional increase in the comparison, while Fallout 4 reached the highest January peak. These comparisons describe two particular monthly peaks, not a continuous upward trend or a count of everyone who played during either month.

Are the reported Fallout player numbers just on Steam?
Yes. The figures above and the public comparisons from April 2024 are Steam observations. They do not include players on Xbox, PlayStation, or PC storefronts other than Steam. As Game Developer noted in its April 2024 coverage, console activity—particularly Xbox and Game Pass—is harder to measure publicly. The totals across all platforms therefore cannot be inferred from these figures.
Concurrent peaks are also a narrower measure than “players” can sound: they count how many people were playing at the same moment. They do not tell us how many distinct people played over a day, month, or season, and a Steam peak is not an official franchise-wide audience count.

Did Season 2 cause another player surge?
The evidence supports saying that another Steam surge coincided with Season 2’s late-2025 start: all three games’ reported peaks were higher in January 2026 than in November 2025. It does not isolate the show as the only cause. PC Gamer also noted winter discounts lifting other RPGs and a themed update for Fallout Shelter. The careful conclusion is that the show was a plausible major catalyst for renewed Fallout interest, alongside other factors.
As of October 8, 2026, the cited reporting does not provide a current late-2026 player count. It supports two distinct reported waves—one around Season 1 in April 2024 and another after Season 2 began—not a claim that player counts are still climbing today.
