Category: Switch 2 Edition of an existing Switch game. Metacritic position: 3 in the captured list. Like the other Editions, it should not be counted as a brand-new game when comparing original Switch 2 releases. Existing owners of the original Switch game can purchase its upgrade pack separately.
5. Donkey Kong Bananza
Category: Original Switch 2 game. Metacritic position: 5 in the captured list. Nintendo lists its release date as 17 July 2025. Its position makes it the highest-placed verified original Switch 2 release among the three positions established here.

Original Switch 2 releases and other 2025 Editions
Nintendo’s lineup identifies additional Nintendo-published Switch 2 releases and Editions for 2025. Because a complete filtered Metascore table and scores are not established here, the titles below are not assigned guessed positions. Nintendo’s official page may update, and publisher attribution for at least one title differs by region.
Original Switch 2 releases
- Mario Kart World — Nintendo lists a 5 June 2025 release date. It is an original Switch 2 release, not an Edition of a previous Switch game.
- Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour — Nintendo lists a 5 June 2025 release date and identifies it as a launch release.
- Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment — Nintendo’s investor presentation names it in the first-party slate, but notes that Koei Tecmo Games publishes it in Japan and Nintendo publishes it elsewhere. Whether it qualifies therefore depends on the market used for the list.
Switch 2 Editions
- Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
- Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
Nintendo’s official lineup also shows further Edition titles with 2025 or seasonal release windows. Consult the current Nintendo Switch 2 games lineup for the latest title and regional release details rather than treating a window as a confirmed day.

What a Switch 2 Edition means when buying
Nintendo describes Editions as Switch games bundled with a Switch 2 upgrade pack, which can add enhanced graphics or gameplay. If you own the original Switch game, Nintendo says you can purchase the upgrade pack separately; the Edition label does not by itself mean you must buy the original game again. Check the specific product listing and region for the available packaged or downloadable format and the precise upgrade requirements.
For Mario Kart World, Nintendo also identifies the Joy-Con 2 wheel as an optional accessory associated with racing play. It is an add-on, not a requirement to play.
