For Wolves in FIFA 19 Manager Career, a 4-3-3 holding shape is a practical starting point if you want to use the team’s strong midfield and attack with wide players around Raúl Jiménez. If you prefer extra defensive cover, use a 5-3-2 or 5-2-3. Build around Rúben Neves, Leander Dendoncker and Diogo Jota, then prioritize centre-back depth and a longer-term striker option.
Wolves’ strengths and starting position
FIFA Index’s FIFA 19 team profile rates Wolves 77 overall, with 75 attack, 80 midfield and 76 defence. It lists an average squad age of 22.5 and a €60 million transfer budget. A separate 2019 RealSport guide gives a £57 million starting transfer budget and £106,000 weekly wage budget. That guide’s figures use pounds, unlike FIFA Index’s euro figure; treat them as source-specific estimates rather than interchangeable or guaranteed in-game amounts. RealSport’s Wolves Career Mode guide is the source for its budget and recommendations.
Players to build around
FIFA Index lists Rúben Neves at 81 overall with 87 potential, Leander Dendoncker at 79/85, Diogo Jota at 78/85, and Jonny at 79/83. Experienced options João Moutinho and Rui Patrício are both listed at 83 overall. These ratings and potentials describe FIFA 19’s database, not current real-world player ability.

RealSport’s suggested XI is Patrício; Doherty, Coady, Boly and Jonny; Dendoncker, Moutinho and Neves; Cavaleiro, Jiménez and Jota. It is a 2019 guide lineup: availability, form and ratings can differ with the roster data used in your save.
Choose a formation: midfield control or defensive cover

RealSport recommends the 4-3-3 holding setup because Wolves have a strong midfield and limited first-team centre-back depth. The 5-3-2 and 5-2-3 are its more defensive alternatives. Set midfield and attacking roles
In RealSport’s 4-3-3 suggestion, Dendoncker anchors midfield, while Moutinho and Neves help progress possession. Cavaleiro and Jota provide runs around Jiménez. Its specific instruction suggestions are:
- Dendoncker: set attacking support to “Stay Back While Attacking” so he offers cover behind the other midfielders.
- Neves: use “Stay on Edge of Box for Cross” to position him for loose balls and follow-up attacks.
- Jota: use “Get into the Box for Cross” to add another target when attacks come from wide areas.
- Cavaleiro: use “Get in Behind” to make forward runs into space.
- Adama Traoré: consider him as a pace option from the bench.

Prioritize transfers by position
Centre-back: improve quality and depth
RealSport identifies centre-back depth as the clearest first-team weakness. Its example target is Joel Matip, with other alternatives also discussed in the guide. Treat any fee or wage quoted there as a FIFA 19-era in-game estimate, not a current football-market price. In your save, compare a prospective defender’s role, rating, age and wage demand with the budget and squad needs you actually have.
Striker: plan beyond the loan forward
Jiménez is described in RealSport’s guide context as a loan player and Wolves’ only first-team striker. That makes another forward useful for rotation and a longer-term succession plan. RealSport names Kasper Dolberg as an example target. As with its defender examples, the guide’s listed costs are historical FIFA 19 estimates; check the terms and availability shown in your own save before committing.

Develop young players and manage the squad
RealSport highlights Jonny, Dendoncker, Neves, Jota, Traoré, Morgan Gibbs-White and Rúben Vinagre as development candidates. FIFA 19’s manual describes training drills and monitoring players’ current and potential growth as Manager Career features. Use training to address the roles your system needs, rather than treating potential as a guarantee of a particular career outcome.
Manager Career also involves budgets, scouting, player happiness, transfers, board goals and team sheets—not only match results. The FIFA 19 PC manual explains using the Global Transfer Network: set scouting instructions and assign scouts to watch prospects. It also documents multiple team sheets, which let you prepare separate squads for league, domestic cup or continental matches.

Track the board’s objectives in your save
RealSport reports that its Wolves Career Mode example included youth development, brand exposure, a mid-table league finish and reaching the FA Cup round of 16. It gives examples of a youth objective to promote an academy player and play them in half of the following season’s matches, and a brand objective to increase season-ticket holders to 10% of stadium capacity within three seasons. These are the guide’s reported objectives, not a promise that every save will show the same targets or importance.
Check your own objectives in the Manager Career menus and note their priority and deadline. If an objective calls for academy minutes, plan a realistic route into the rotation; if it concerns attendance or results, monitor the relevant progress indicator rather than assuming good performances alone will satisfy it.
