Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3, Wrecked, launched on May 24, 2024, with a southern wasteland biome, four renamed or newly featured locations, Nitro-powered movement and vehicles, and a refreshed weapon pool. This is a historical overview of the launch announcement—not a guide to the current map or a complete record of changes made during the season.
What changed on the Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 map?
A sandstorm created a new wasteland biome in the south of the island. Epic’s May 24, 2024 launch announcement introduced three Wasteland Warriors locations and renamed Snooty Steppes:
- Redline Rig: A Nitro refinery run by The Machinist.
- Nitrodrome: Ringmaster Scarr’s car spectacle venue.
- Brutal Beachhead: The Wasteland Warriors’ base of operations.
- Sandy Steppes: The location formerly known as Snooty Steppes.
The season’s map identity centered on Nitro, which affected both vehicle handling and player movement. Nitro Splash could be thrown to infuse a player or car; Nitro Barrels activated on contact and could be launched before exploding. Epic said Nitro-fied cars gained speed and ramming power, used less fuel, and strengthened attached attack mods. Nitro-fied players gained movement speed, a damaging bash, reduced stamina use, faster reloads, and immunity to fall damage.
What weapons were in the Fortnite Wrecked launch loot pool?
Epic grouped the following under “Unvaulted and carried-over weapons” in its launch announcement. The list describes the announced launch pool, not every weapon available throughout the season:

Wrecked was a 2024 season, not Fortnite’s current map or loot pool. Epic later updated its end time to August 15, 2024, at 11 p.m. ET. The launch materials document the initial locations, weapons, and mechanics; they do not establish the complete sequence of mid-season changes. For the historical launch details, use the official announcement, rather than treating its loot list as a season-long inventory.
