These are historical launch details, not a description of Fortnite’s current update or loot pool.
What was the May 24 Fortnite update?
Epic Games released Chapter 5 Season 3: Wrecked on May 24, 2024. The official ecosystem release note identifies the update as v30.00. The cited official materials do not support the “4.26” version number in the original title. Epic’s Wrecked season announcement and v30.00 ecosystem release notes document the launch.
“For today” is no longer accurate: May 24 refers to 2024. Epic’s release-note result current as of October 1, 2026 was v42.30, so the Wrecked changes below should be read as a record of that season’s launch, not the live game. Epic’s v42.30 release notes are dated October 1, 2026.
What changed in Chapter 5 Season 3?
A wasteland map and new locations
A sandstorm transformed the island into a wasteland. Epic highlighted three new named locations: Redline Rig, the Nitrodrome, and Brutal Beachhead. The season’s Wasteland Warriors and their vehicle-focused bases reinforced the post-storm theme.

Nitro powered players and vehicles
Nitro Splash could be thrown to infuse a player or car, while Nitro Barrels activated on contact. Epic’s launch description said Nitro-fied cars gained speed and ramming power, used less fuel, and strengthened their attached attack mods. Nitro-fied players moved faster, used less sprint energy, reloaded faster, could bash through builds, and took no fall damage. These are launch-era mechanics; they should not be assumed to describe the current game.
Nitro Fists added close-range mobility
Nitro Fists offered a three-hit punch combo, an uppercut, and an aerial punch. At launch, the weapon had four charges, with one charge recharging every eight seconds. The three-punch combo did not use a charge, but uppercuts and aerial punches did.

Vehicle combat and mods
Epic’s season overview called out the Machine Gun Turret, Grenade Launcher Turret, Spiked Bumper, Cow Catcher, and Bulletproof Tires. It also listed Cow Catchers and Chonkers Off-Road Tires among returning vehicle options. The broader announcement covered additional vehicle-related items, and not every item was necessarily available in every mode or competitive playlist.
Weapons and mobile HUD adjustments
The launch announcement named weapons including the Combat Shotgun, Gatekeeper Shotgun, Warforged Assault Rifle, Tactical Assault Rifle, Enforcer AR, and Shockwave Grenade, alongside balance changes to some returning weapons. This is a historical launch lineup, not a current loot-pool guide.

What did the Wrecked Battle Pass include?
The pass launched with the season and cost 950 V-Bucks. Epic said players could earn back up to 1,500 V-Bucks by leveling up. Its announced Outfits included The Machinist, Rust, Peabody, Ringmaster Scarr, T-60 Power Armor, Brite Raider, and Megalo Don. Wastelander Magneto was announced as a later unlock through Battle Pass quests in July. These are historical launch details; they do not mean the pass is still available to buy or progress.

What were the competitive requirements?
Epic set different rank requirements for different events during this season. The rules were not one universal eligibility threshold:
| Event | Wrecked-era requirement |
|---|---|
| FNCS Major 3 | Platinum I in Ranked Battle Royale |
| Ranked Cups | Based on the player’s current rank |
| Open Cups | No rank requirement |
| Cash Cups | Gold I in Battle Royale or Zero Build |
These requirements come from Epic’s Chapter 5 Season 3 competitive details and apply to that season’s events, not necessarily to tournaments now.
