Flying Waters has three collectibles: two Paint Cages and one Expedition 68 journal. Open the first cage behind the entrance shipwreck by shooting its three locks. In Coral Cave, take the lit opening on the right at the fork to reach the second cage, then return to the fork and follow the left path for the journal.

First Paint Cage: behind the entrance shipwreck
- From the entrance area, go behind the shipwreck to find the Paint Cage.
- Look around the cage for its three locks and shoot each one to open it.
Guides describe the lock landmarks somewhat differently. Push Square places one immediately to the right of the cage, one opposite on a whale fin, and one to the left near an object pointing diagonally upward. Other walkthrough descriptions refer to nearby landmarks such as a whale statue and a rock face. If a landmark does not match what you see, search around the cage rather than relying on one exact object description; all three locks must be shot.
Reach the Coral Cave fork
Continue along the area’s main route through the opening section toward Noco’s Hut and the Manor sequence, then onward to Coral Cave. The GameFAQs chapter walkthrough starts near the large anchor and includes an optional detour around seaweed for an SOS Shell before progressing. Expedition33.gg also describes additional item detours, hidden Manor rooms, Noco, and the Démineur interaction; these are broader exploration content, not part of the three-collectible count.

Second Paint Cage: take the right-hand drop
- From the Coral Cave rest point, continue until the main path reaches a fork.
- Take the lit opening on the right. It drops into the area containing the second Paint Cage.
- Shoot all three locks to open it. The walkthroughs describe them as behind the cage on the rock, beside it on rock columns, and attached to a large mine.
Expedition 68 journal: return to the fork and go left
After visiting the second cage, return to the fork. Take the left-hand path on the Coral Cave main route to find the Expedition 68 journal beside a corpse.

After Coral Cave, the broader chapter route continues through Lumièran Streets and Flower Field. The walkthrough also covers optional encounters: a Mime that rewards Maelle’s Short Haircut, a Bourgeon near Lumièran Streets, and a Chromatic Troubadour before the route continues toward Flower Field and the Goblu fight. These fights are optional; they are not required to open either Paint Cage or collect the journal.
