Fortnite error code 93 is reported when players can’t join a party, but Epic has not published a support page confirming what causes this specific code or a guaranteed fix. Check Fortnite’s service status first, then try a different party invite route or privacy setting. If that doesn’t help, use Epic’s troubleshooting for related party errors as general checks—not as proof of an Error 93 cause.
What Fortnite Error Code 93 means
Third-party reports associate Fortnite error code 93 with being unable to join a party, including a friend’s party. Epic’s support pages located for this issue do not define Error 93. Reports also vary between “93” and “-93”; note the exact code and message on your screen rather than assuming they refer to the same error.
A service disruption or patch-related problem is possible, as is a local party or connection issue, but neither is established as the cause of Error 93. Epic has said that a recent patch fixed some party-joining trouble, without identifying the patch version or linking the notice to this code. Epic’s party-joining guidance also tells Xbox players who remain affected to check invite permissions on both consoles.
How to fix Fortnite Error 93
- Check Fortnite service status. Look for an active incident before changing settings. Epic recommends checking service status for related matchmaking errors and retrying after service issues are resolved. Open Epic Games status.
- Try another way to join, or change party privacy. A third-party guide suggests switching party privacy between Public and Private, or joining through the Epic Games friends list. Treat these as quick, reversible experiments, not confirmed fixes. Pro Game Guides’ Error 93 suggestions also include changing cosmetics, but Epic’s support guidance cited here does not corroborate cosmetics as a cause or solution.
- If you’re on PC, verify Fortnite’s files. In the Epic Games Launcher, open your Library, select the three-dot menu next to Fortnite, choose Manage, then Verify. Epic recommends file verification for the related Error -91 party-joining problem; that recommendation does not establish that damaged files cause Error 93. See Epic’s Error -91 guidance.
- If you’re on console, check party and connection settings. Epic’s Error -91 article recommends enabling crossplay on PlayStation and Xbox, checking console NAT and connectivity, clearing the console cache, and restarting the device. These are general checks for a related party error, not Error 93-specific instructions. Follow the steps for your platform in Epic’s Error -91 support article.
- Check the platform’s date and time only if relevant. Epic recommends synchronizing date and time for Errors 83 and 86, not Error 93. This is an adjacent troubleshooting step, not a documented Error 93 fix. See Epic’s Error 83/86 guidance.
- Contact Epic if the problem continues. Include your platform, the exact displayed code and message, when the issue began, whether you can create a party, whether solo play works, and whether other friends can join. Epic support can advise based on your account and platform.
How to tell whether the problem is your setup or Fortnite
If Fortnite services show an incident, wait for it to clear and try again before changing local settings. If status is normal, a different invite route or privacy setting is a low-effort way to test the party setup. If those experiments fail, move to platform-appropriate connection checks; more involved actions such as clearing cache or changing NAT settings belong later in the process.

Epic says matchmaking errors #1, #2, and #3 are mainly associated with maintenance or connection issues, and recommends checking status and troubleshooting the connection. Those are different errors, so this guidance supports a sensible diagnostic order rather than explaining Error 93. Read Epic’s matchmaking-error guidance.

What not to assume about Error 93
- A cosmetic change is not an established fix. A third-party guide suggests changing cosmetics, but the Epic support pages cited here do not confirm that cosmetics cause this error.
- Error 93 and Error -93 may not be the same issue. A July 2026 Microsoft Q&A post describes a Windows player encountering Error Code -93 while joining or creating a party. An independent advisor proposed a Creative-mode workaround and privacy/account changes; this is anecdotal, not an official Epic fix. Read the Microsoft Q&A post.
- Related-code advice is not a code-specific diagnosis. Epic’s Error -91 and Error 83/86 articles cover other codes. Their platform, connection, and date/time checks may be useful when troubleshooting party access, but do not prove the cause of Error 93.
