Bruno Mars was Fortnite Festival’s Season 9 Icon. Epic Games announced the season on June 17, 2025, and said it would begin June 18. The announcement also detailed a new Main Stage, music-browsing updates, season-limited Shop items, and a Music Pass.
When did Fortnite Festival Season 9 begin?
Epic’s June 17, 2025 announcement named Bruno Mars as the next Festival Icon after Sabrina Carpenter’s season and set Season 9’s start for June 18, 2025. Epic introduced the handoff with: “Sabrina’s leaving the door open for the next Fortnite Festival Icon… Bruno Mars!”

What was included in the Season 9 Music Pass?
Epic said players could earn free and premium Music Pass rewards by gaining XP in any Fortnite experience, not just Festival. The premium Pass cost 1,400 V-Bucks or could be accessed through Fortnite Crew under the terms announced for Season 9. Purchasing or accessing the Pass automatically unlocked the Die With A Smile Bruno Outfit.
Named premium rewards included the Last Reprise Guitar, Red Hearts Kit Drums, and these Jam Tracks:

- “Mun Ra (part. Instituto)”
- Jackson 5’s “ABC”
- Silk Sonic’s “Leave The Door Open”
Epic said Music Pass rewards were not exclusive to the Pass and might be sold in the Shop later. The announcement also credited Astrid Gallegos with creating the outfit that inspired the Die With A Smile Bruno Outfit, and Stetson with making the real-life hat.

What did Epic tell creators about monetization and copyright claims?
Epic’s Season 9 guidance allowed VOD monetization featuring eligible Jam Tracks during the first seven days of the season. After that initial period, Epic said creators should expect monetization claims from the respective rights holders. The eligible tracks it named were Bruno Mars’s “Bonde Do Brunão,” Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’s “Die With A Smile,” and ROSÉ and Bruno Mars’s “APT.”
For YouTube monetization, Epic said creators needed to link their YouTube and Support-A-Creator accounts and recommended uploading videos as Unlisted or Public rather than Private. For Twitch, Epic warned it could not prevent VODs or clips featuring those tracks from being flagged by third-party copyright detection systems, and recommended disabling VODs or clips for streams using them. These were Epic’s instructions for Season 9, not a statement of current platform policy.
