It was a historical update, not a current patch. The headline addition was a Dragon Ball crossover, alongside Lazy Lagoon’s return, new Block 2.0 builds, an Android 90 FPS option for some devices, competitive restrictions, and bug fixes.
Dragon Ball content led the v21.40 update
Epic’s Battle Royale v21.40 notes announced Fortnite x Dragon Ball activities and items. The “Power Unleashed!” quests let players raise their Power Level and earn rewards, including the Dragon Radar Back Bling, emotes, sprays, and Battle Pass levels.

- Versus Boards: Players could challenge one another through the new boards.
- Kamehameha and Nimbus Cloud (Kintoun): These items were delivered by Capsule Corp.
- Dragon Ball experiences: The update announced a Dragon Ball Super Episode Festival in Discover and Dragon Ball Adventure Island.
- Tournament of Power: Epic announced the tournament for August 18, 2022.
- Item Shop characters: Son Goku, Vegeta, Bulma, and Beerus were featured.
These are the activities and offerings listed in Epic’s release announcement; the notes do not establish their availability beyond the announced period.
Lazy Lagoon and Pirate Cannons returned
The Reality Tree transformed The Daily Bugle into Lazy Lagoon, bringing back the classic location. Pirate Cannons returned with it. A two-player crew could have one player steer while the other braced inside the barrel and aimed before launch. Solo players could fire cannonballs after a cooldown or climb into the barrel and launch themselves.

Three community-selected builds appeared at Tilted Towers
After three voting windows during No Sweat Summer, the selected Block 2.0 constructions filled sites that had been destroyed at Tilted Towers:
- The Restaurant: The Block 2.0 Ben’s Restaurant, by Benmac.
- The Apartments: The Block 2.0 Template Apartments, by Charlee-brown.
- The Shops: The Block 2.0 – The M Building, by 0ricent.
Some Android devices gained a 90 FPS option
On compatible Android devices, players could find a 90 FPS option under Settings > Video. Epic said that if the option did not appear, the device did not meet the technical requirements. The release notes warned that enabling it could use more power or increase device heat; if either happened, the game would reduce the frame rate. This describes the 2022 release note, not a current compatibility list.

Competitive playlist restrictions and listed fixes
Competitive restrictions
- Kamehameha and Nimbus Cloud were excluded from competitive playlists, except for the Tournament of Power.
- Pirate Cannons were excluded from competitive playlists.
Major fixes
- Chest loot could appear several meters away or fail to appear in some locations.
- Picking up a Chug Cannon could cause a player to lose an inventory slot.
- Players could sometimes be kicked out of Edit Mode.
- Players could not switch voice-chat devices when they were not in a match.
Creative had a separate v21.40 announcement
Epic published separate Creative v21.40 notes, rather than including those additions in the Battle Royale list. They announced a Level Loader device, a Primitive Alphabet Gallery, and additions to the Deserted Fortress galleries. The Level Loader places levels created and saved with the Level Instance device; it can be placed off-grid, rotated to any angle, and stacked on another Level Loader.

Epic’s Battle Royale release notes use v21.40. A contemporaneous MP1st report called it update 3.65 and identified the PS5 build as 1.000.075. Those labels explain why the same August 16 update appears under different version numbers in search results; 3.65 is not Epic’s Battle Royale version name.
