Fortnite’s Big Bang was a live event held on December 2, 2023, at 2 PM ET. Epic Games announced it as a “new beginning for Fortnite,” with an appearance by Eminem; the event was followed by Chapter 5 and the launch of several new Fortnite experiences.
When was Fortnite’s Big Bang event?
Epic announced The Big Bang on November 21, 2023, and scheduled it for Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 2 PM Eastern Time. The date in the original headline refers to that past event, not an upcoming Fortnite schedule. Epic’s announcement called it “a new beginning for Fortnite.”
How players could join
Epic said the event tile would appear in Discover 30 minutes before the start, and parties could include up to four players. At the time, Epic also listed Xbox Cloud Gaming, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, and Amazon Luna as ways to play through the cloud on a computer or mobile device.
Epic’s event-day access guidance was specific to December 2, 2023: Epic-created experiences were to be disabled starting at 12 PM ET, while creator-made experiences would remain available until v28.00 downtime began at 11:30 PM ET. Epic advised players and creators who wanted to revisit their own experience to record and archive it.

What Epic announced for the event
Eminem’s appearance
Epic confirmed that Eminem would appear during The Big Bang. The announcement established an appearance, but did not promise a particular performance format or setlist.
Digital rewards and Item Shop outfits
Epic said attendees would receive The Big Bang Loading Screen and described an attendance unlock for the Marshall Magma Style. The announcement also listed three Eminem-themed digital outfits and matching accessories for the Item Shop. These were in-game items, not physical merchandise or evidence of a continuing offer.
What the “new era” led to
The next day, December 3, 2023, Epic published its launch article for Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter 5 Season 1: Underground. That marks the immediate chapter transition associated with The Big Bang.
