This guide covers selected, documented announcements and Xbox’s announced booth plans—not every reveal or preview from the event.
When was Gamescom 2024?
The public event took place in Cologne, Germany, from 21–25 August 2024. Opening Night Live, the event’s opening showcase, aired on 20 August. Xbox’s Gamescom guide outlined its own booth and broadcast plans for the show.
What were the biggest Opening Night Live announcements?
GameSpot’s Opening Night Live roundup described a two-hour showcase. These selected highlights include new projects, extended gameplay, and dates reported at the time; they are not a complete program transcript.

What could visitors play at Gamescom?
Xbox said its booth would feature more than 50 titles across more than 240 gaming stations, alongside theaters, photo opportunities, and a gear shop. Its listed hands-on games included:
- Age of Mythology: Retold and Ara: History Untold
- Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred and Fallout 76: Milepost Zero
- The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road and Towerborne
- Star Wars Outlaws and Space Marine 2
- Atomfall and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl
Those were Xbox’s announced booth plans, not a complete list of playable games across Gamescom or other exhibitors.

How could viewers follow the show floor?
Beyond Opening Night Live, Xbox planned three days of show-floor broadcasts featuring first-look gameplay, developer chats, and trailers. That offered remote viewers a way to see some booth content; it should not be mistaken for a comprehensive livestream of every exhibitor or demo.
How large was Gamescom 2024?
In its official final report, organizer Koelnmesse said the event drew 335,000 visitors from around 120 countries. It also reported more than 310 million online video views for the show programme by Saturday evening, including over 40 million Opening Night Live views by Saturday evening. Those view totals are time-qualified figures from the organizer’s report.
