The Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 heist-theme leak was directionally right, but it was only a guess until Epic confirmed it. A February 4, 2025 report tied the game-file codename “RobberyGameplay” to a possible heist season. Epic’s February 21 announcement made it official: the season was Chapter 6 Season 2: LAWLESS!, built around crime, bank robberies and armored transports.
What did the leak say?
On February 4, 2025, Esports.net reported that Fortnite files used the codename “RobberyGameplay.” Leakers interpreted the name as a sign that the next season would focus on heists. The report explicitly treated that reading as speculation, not confirmation from Epic. Esports.net’s leak report
When did Epic confirm the theme?
GameSpot’s February 18 preview described the season as heist-themed, pointing to its trailer, Crime City, security vans and an armored train. That was contemporary preview coverage; Epic’s official announcement followed on February 21, 2025. GameSpot’s preview
Epic titled its announcement “Run Amok in Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter 6 Season 2: LAWLESS!” and described a season of criminal schemes and robberies. Its confirmation settled the central question raised by the leak: the heist interpretation matched the season’s official direction. Epic’s LAWLESS announcement

How did the heist theme appear in the season?
Crime City and its cast
Epic placed the action in Crime City, a setting shaped by money and criminal territory. The announced locations included Hostile Hotel, Wise Guys Bookstore and Launder Mat in Crime City, alongside Outlaw Oasis, Shiny Shafts and Lonewolf Lair. Epic’s story featured crime kingpin Fletcher Kane, outlaw Midas and Big Dill.
Heists as gameplay
The theme extended beyond the setting: Epic described robbing banks, commandeering armored transport convoys and raiding an armored train. Thermite was required to crack a vault. The announcement also featured Black Markets, Bars, Dill Bits and season-specific gear. These details describe LAWLESS as announced in 2025; they do not establish that the same items or mechanics remain available in Fortnite now.
