The patch, titled “The Rainbow Destined to Burn,” was scheduled to begin after maintenance on October 9, 2024 (UTC+8). This is a recap of that 2024 broadcast, not a current banner or event guide.
Who was the new character in Genshin Impact Version 5.1?
Xilonen was the new playable character highlighted for Version 5.1. HoYoverse’s update details list her among the patch’s content, and the game’s App Store listing also identifies Xilonen as the new character. Those sources establish her as a featured new character; they do not establish that she was the only character discussed or revealed during the livestream.
When was the Version 5.1 livestream, and when did the update begin?
The official Version 5.1 Special Program video was published on September 27, 2024. It previewed content and developments for the update, which carried the title “The Rainbow Destined to Burn.” HoYoverse’s update details scheduled maintenance for October 9, 2024 (UTC+8)—a separate date from the livestream.
The Phase I event preview followed on October 7, 2024, shortly before the scheduled update. These dates describe the original 2024 rollout; they are not announcements of current events.

The update included new story content and weapons. A contemporaneous HoYoLAB recap also highlighted new Archon Quests and quality-of-life changes, including an Abyss skip feature and an artifact filter update. That recap supports a broad summary, but not a detailed account of the features’ mechanics or eligibility.

Are the Version 5.1 livestream codes still valid?
No. The official video description said: “The redemption codes from this special program will expire on September 28, 00:00 (UTC-4), so be quick and redeem them~” The stated expiration has passed, so codes from that broadcast should not be presented as redeemable now.
