How much free space does Genshin Impact need?
HoYoverse’s system requirements page, dated November 11, 2025, lists these available-space baselines. The page warns that requirements may increase with future updates, so check it for the latest figures if you are troubleshooting later.

These are published free-space requirements, not the download size of a particular patch or a formula for how much temporary room every update needs. HoYoverse does not give a universal update-space multiplier on that page. It also does not list a current PS4 requirement there, so do not rely on an older PS4 figure as a current baseline. Fix the storage error in this order
- Identify the platform and stage. Note whether the error appears during a first installation, a regular update, or a pre-download. The relevant storage controls differ by platform.
- Check the actual install location. Look at free space on the PC drive, phone/tablet, or console storage holding the game—not just the total capacity of another drive or device. Compare the free space with the published requirement above.
- Make room safely. Remove files or applications you recognize and no longer need. Close unused apps, then retry the download or update through the official platform tool. HoYoverse’s general troubleshooting guidance recommends checking storage, clearing space, closing unused applications, and using the official update method. - Retry the official update flow. On PC, use the HoYoverse launcher; on mobile, use the relevant app store; on console, use the platform’s update tool. Avoid deleting arbitrary folders inside the game installation.
- Escalate only if the basic checks do not help. Use HoYoverse or platform support for the device and error you have. Reinstalling is a later option: it means downloading the game again, so try simpler storage checks first.
Platform-specific checks
Android
Confirm that the device meets the listed requirement and that its connection is working. If installation or updating through Google Play still fails, HoYoverse advises clearing the Google Play Store cache and data from the device’s app settings, then trying again. If the console reports error CE-107872-5, PlayStation says it can mean there is not enough free console storage to download or copy content. Check console storage and make space before retrying the Genshin Impact update. This is a PlayStation storage error, not a Genshin-specific error code. PlayStation support: CE-107872-5.
PC
HoYoverse recommends installing the PC version on an SSD for smoother play, but an SSD is not a universal fix for an insufficient-space message. It is an optional storage upgrade if you cannot free enough room and your PC supports the drive; the published requirement remains 110 GB or more of available space. HoYoverse PC requirements.

When to reinstall
If you have verified space on the correct install location, closed unused apps, and retried through the official update tool but the problem continues, HoYoverse’s general download guidance includes reinstalling from an official source. Treat this as a fallback because the game must be downloaded again.
