In CODE VEIN II, the Ichor-powered combat abilities are called Formae—not Gifts. Drain Attacks build Ichor, which you spend to activate Formae. The game also has literal gifts: you can give found Valuables to characters to deepen bonds and earn points to trade for items. Here’s how to tell the two systems apart and use each one.
What are “Gifts” in CODE VEIN II?
If you mean combat skills, the sequel calls them Formae. Bandai Namco’s gameplay guide and its October 28, 2025 combat announcement describe Formae as Revenant abilities that consume Ichor, the blood drained from foes. “Gifts” can also mean the items you give characters at MagMell Base; those are called Valuables in the game’s explanation of the system.

The distinction matters if you are carrying over terminology from the earlier game: for CODE VEIN II, look for Formae when browsing combat abilities and Valuables when gifting characters.
How Formae work in combat
The core loop is straightforward: use Drain Attacks to gain Ichor, then spend Ichor on Formae. Your Jail—the special equipment that modifies stats and Drain Actions—also affects which drain actions are available, so your ability setup and drain options should be considered together.

Formae categories
- Weapon Formae: Abilities tied to a weapon. They include Combat, Magic, and Support forms; up to four Weapon Formae can be equipped to a weapon.
- Bequeathed Formae: Summon a unique weapon.
- Defensive Formae: Provide a guard, counter, or evasive maneuver.
These roles offer a practical way to choose abilities: consider whether you need offense, support, defense, or evasion, then weigh the Ichor cost and activation timing against your weapon, Jail, and current build. Official materials describe the systems but do not establish a tested best Formae setup.
How Blood Codes and partners shape your build
A Blood Code represents a Revenant’s power and helps determine fighting style, favored weapons, and applicable Formae. Bandai Namco’s Blood Codes announcement, published December 19, 2025, says changing Blood Codes changes your fighting style without reallocating parameters or retraining. Blood Code attributes affect weapon and Formae attack power, HP, and Stamina.

Equipment Burden can also change your actions. When Overburdened, it can grant a Benefit alongside a Penalty, so account for both when deciding how your equipment fits the build.
Partners add another layer. You can have a partner fight beside you or assimilate them to enhance your powers and stats. Link Traits are active while the bond is strong and can temporarily disappear if damage weakens that bond. Partner Trait Bonuses are passive benefits that can improve as the relationship deepens. If your HP reaches zero, Restorative Offering can restore your health, leaving the partner temporarily incapacitated.

How to give gifts to characters
At MagMell Base, you can offer characters Valuables you find while exploring. Gifting deepens the bond and earns points that can be traded for items. Each character has a distinct item selection, and that selection expands as the bond deepens. Bandai Namco’s MagMell Base announcement warns that some gifts may be rejected.
The official description does not specify which Valuables are best for particular characters, the acceptance rules, point amounts, or individual rewards. Treat gifting as a way to build relationships and earn trade points, rather than assuming every character will accept every item.
