Which Godzilla game fits the way you want to play?

| Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee (2002) | Kaiju arena fighting, including destruction-focused play | GameCube and Xbox are identified in GameSpot’s review. Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee is the pick for monster battles
GameSpot’s review describes several ways to play: versus, survival, team battle, and destruction. In destruction mode, players compete to cause more havoc in a city than an opponent. That mix makes the 2002 game the clearest choice in this shortlist if the appeal is having giant monsters fight one another rather than simply playing through a Godzilla-led city rampage. (GameSpot review)
GameSpot gave the game a 6.9 score in its listing. Reviewer Greg Kasavin concluded, “So if it makes you feel any better, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee is actually the best Godzilla game to date.” That is one reviewer’s judgment, not a universal ranking. (GameSpot listing; GameSpot review)
Godzilla (2015) focuses on destruction
The PS4 game’s store description centers on laying waste to cities with brute force and atomic breath, then battling legendary rivals. It also lists an online multiplayer mode. Those details make it a natural option for players who want to inhabit the Godzilla fantasy and leave destruction in their wake, rather than choose a game primarily for its arena-fighting modes.
