Grand Gajau Whisker is a high-rank crafting material in Monster Hunter: World. Find Gajau in the Ancient Forest or Wildspire Waste and carve them; the material is also listed as an investigation reward. You may need it for equipment upgrades or the “Ancient But Fresh!” delivery quest.

How to get it
Carve high-rank Gajau
Carve a Gajau after defeating it. Kiranico’s Monster Hunter: World database, identified as game version 15.11, lists a 25% high-rank carve result for Grand Gajau Whisker. These are database-listed probabilities, not independently tested drop rates.
Check investigation rewards
Kiranico’s version 15.11 entry also lists Grand Gajau Whisker at 30% in each of its bronze, silver, and gold high-rank investigation reward rows. If you have an eligible investigation, its reward slots provide another way to obtain the material.

What Grand Gajau Whisker is used for
It is an equipment crafting material, not a real-world item. Kiranico lists it in several weapon upgrade and armor recipes, including Water Golem II, Rogue Wave II, Jyura weapon upgrades, Gajau Boots, Jyura Vambraces, and Lavasioth Coils. Recipe requirements vary by piece; check the specific equipment entry before farming.
Delivery quest that requires it
PowerPyx also identifies the “Ancient But Fresh!” delivery quest as requiring Grand Gajau Whisker. If you are collecting it for that delivery rather than equipment, keep the item instead of spending it on a recipe.

Farming route and respawns
PowerPyx notes that Gajau respawn after fast-traveling to another map. Its guide recommends that as a way to continue gathering from the fish-like small monsters, but the respawn advice is guide-specific rather than a separately verified modern-game test.
