Check coverage for the platform you plan to use rather than assuming one review describes every version.
What do critics like—and what puts them off?
Story, setting and atmosphere
Positive excerpts point to the game’s open-world scope, audio, story and world-building. The prequel’s colonization narrative and factions may appeal if you enjoy RPGs built around competing interests and a distinctive setting. These are examples of themes in the indexed reviews, not a count of how many critics praised each one.

Combat is a major taste divider. TechRadar describes a tactical real-time-with-pause system, while review excerpts and PC Gamer raise concerns about pacing and the burden of encounters. If you want direct, continuously controlled action, watch gameplay or read a review for your platform before buying; the tactical approach may not suit you.
Execution and technical issues
PC Gamer’s March 10, 2026 review praised the game’s “quiet ambition” and some elements of its world, but called it a “humdrum slog to play.” Christopher Livingston reported bugs, crashes, audio failures and investigation sequences that could soft-lock progression during his review playthrough. Why separate Early Access impressions from full-release reviews?
GreedFall: The Dying World spent time in Early Access before its full release. Metacritic says it applies a final score only to a review of a finished game: “Metacritic chooses to apply a final score to a review only when it is a review of a finished game.” Early Access impressions can describe an earlier state of the game, so they should not be blended with reviews of the completed release. The indexed Metacritic page lists March 12, 2026 as the initial release date. Xbox Wire announced the Xbox Series X|S launch for that date as well. Xbox Wire’s launch announcement describes the game under its current title, GreedFall: The Dying World; it is a prequel.

What should you expect on PS5?
TechRadar’s March 10, 2026 review reported more than 40 hours of play on a stock PS5. Its reviewer described Quality Mode as capped at 30 fps and Performance Mode as targeting 60 fps with a notable resolution reduction.
