Ubisoft confirmed that Rainbow Six Siege suffered a cyberattack in December 2025. Players reported unexpected premium currency and cosmetics, as well as erratic bans and unbans; Ubisoft shut down Siege and its Marketplace while responding. In a February 2026 update, Ubisoft said player inventories had been restored and that its investigation found no indication that personal data or source code was compromised.
What happened when Rainbow Six Siege was hacked?
On December 27, 2025, players began reporting unusual changes in Rainbow Six Siege, including large currency balances, rare or developer-only cosmetics, and unexpected bans and unbans. PC Gamer reported on December 29 that Ubisoft acknowledged an incident affecting Siege and took the game and Marketplace offline while it worked on a response. These player-facing effects and the shutdown timeline are described in PC Gamer’s incident report.
Ubisoft’s later official account confirmed that the game had suffered a cyberattack and that player inventories were restored. The company has not published a complete technical postmortem identifying an attacker, entry point, or precise mechanism. The public information therefore establishes the breach and its reported effects, but not how the attackers got in or every system they may have reached.
What happened to credits, cosmetics and bans?
Players reported receiving abnormal amounts of in-game currency and cosmetics, alongside confusing ban and unban activity. Those are reports of what players saw during the incident, not evidence that every account received the same items or that every sanction was false.

- 1,200 in-game credits for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.
- Use these credits in-game to purchase the newest Operators, uniforms, weapon skins, charms, and more!
- R6 Credit code will be delivered via email from Amazon and redeemed in the Ubisoft Connect launcher
PC Gamer’s account of Ubisoft’s public updates said the company would not punish players for spending the unexpected currency and would roll back transactions made from the beginning of the incident. Treat that as incident-specific reporting: it does not establish that every player’s individual balance, purchase, or sanction was handled identically.
Were player accounts or personal data exposed?
In its February 2026 Year 11 Player Protection update, Ubisoft said its investigation found “no indication” that players’ personal data or any source code had been compromised. This is a limited statement about what the investigation indicated; it is not a blanket guarantee that no data or systems were accessed, nor does it say that every account was unaffected.

Are Rainbow Six Siege servers back up?
Ubisoft’s service-status page is the right place to check availability, since server status can change. A snapshot indexed as updated October 5, 2026 listed no issues for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or Xbox One. That dated snapshot is not a guarantee of current uptime.
