Where to find Optical Disk C
Look for the Ice Cream Cart and make your way into its lower cavern. Optical Disk C is beside a scientist’s body in the cavern, with the Frostbitten Key nearby.
How to reach the disk
Guides published in 2025 describe slightly different ways to enter the lower area: one points to a fallen ice cream cone tunnel, while another recommends a southwest ice tunnel. Once inside, use the cavern’s landmarks to orient yourself. The detailed route is described in this 2025 guide.
- Enter through the fallen cone tunnel, or look for the southwest ice tunnel leading to the lower cavern.
- Follow the icy passage to a fork and take the left path into the large cavern.
- Continue toward three overturned ice cream cones. Approach the second cone.
- After passing the mint chocolate chip mound, turn right and go under the two yellow popsicle sticks.
- Search the large area for the scientist’s body and pick up Optical Disk C beside it.
Prepare for the cold and scorpions
The cavern is cold, and Northern Scorpions occupy the route. A walkthrough recommends the Fuzzy armor set, Blazin’ Brew smoothies, or spicy shards for chill resistance. A torch or glow gear can help with visibility; bring combat supplies for the scorpions as well. These are in-game equipment and items, not real-world products.

What to do with the Frostbitten Key and disk
The Frostbitten Key is close to the disk. If you want to pursue the nearby optional treasure, a key-location guide places its chest in the Ice Sickles chamber and says reaching it requires Tier 2 Omni-Hammer and Omni-Shovel attachments.
For disk progression, take the Optical Disk to a Ranger Station and register it. Registration reveals entries in the Science Shop; you still need to spend Raw Science to purchase individual unlocks. A guide for version 0.5, “Into the Abyss,” describes the general registration process, but check the current game for Disk C’s specific unlock list: Optical Disk guide. Grounded 2 updates can change disk information and labels, so route landmarks may also differ between versions.
