To reach him, enter from the front, bring a Tier 3 Termite Axe to clear the blocking splinters, and prepare to deal with termite workers and soldiers as well as the boss. The community wiki lists salty and stabbing damage as his weaknesses; its recommended loadout is a Tier 3 weapon and Tier 2–3 armor.
Where to find the Termite King
The Woodpile is beside the shed, and the Termite Den is the cave system inside it. Obsidian described the log pile in its February 1, 2022 update as “a stronghold for a hive of termites.” The King waits in the den’s inner sanctum, near the Woodpile BURG.L Chip. Obsidian’s Wood Pile update introduced the area; the Grounded Wiki’s Termite Den guide maps the entrances and route.
How to reach the inner sanctum
The den has four entrances along the front of the Woodpile and another on the tarp above. The front route leads toward the King and the Woodpile BURG.L Chip, but splinters block the way. You need a Termite Axe to chop through them. Obsidian classifies the Termite Axe as a Tier 3 tool in its Wood Pile update.
The upper tarp entrance reaches deeper sections more directly, but it is described as dangerous. Neither route is established as universally safer: choose based on your readiness to navigate the cave, and expect workers and soldiers in the burrows whichever way you go.

Prepare for the fight
The Grounded Wiki recommends a Tier 3 weapon and Tier 2–3 armor; these are its recommendations, not a developer-stated minimum. Bring healing supplies and be ready for nearby termites to complicate the encounter. The wiki’s strategy notes point out that workers’ acid attacks can interrupt your focus on the King, so clearing nearby workers first is a useful tactic if you can do so without drawing more enemies into the fight.
Use damage the King is weak to
The community wiki lists the King’s health as 1,910, defense as 16, and damage resistance as 25%. It lists salty and stabbing damage as weaknesses, each dealing 25% more damage. Fresh damage is reduced by 50%, generic damage by 25%, and slashing damage by 50%; dust has no effect. These are in-game mechanics reported by the wiki, not official developer-published combat statistics. Check the Termite King page for its damage-type details.

How to handle the Termite King’s attacks
The King is aggressive and uses a bite, a three-hit bite combo, a charged bite, and a heavily stunning bite, according to the wiki’s strategy notes. Watch its attack animations and avoid committing to long attacks while it is winding up. The notes warn that the stunning bite can still stun you when blocked, so blocking alone is not a reliable answer to that move. Nearby workers can also land acid attacks while you are concentrating on the boss.

The wiki says the King respawns at the same location after three in-game days if you are out of range of its spawn area. Obsidian also notes that Termite Kings can appear in termite faction raids, which is a separate encounter context from the den’s ordinary spawn; see the developer’s November 13, 2023 update.
